I know what you mean about being sentimental about flowers. I have some old fashioned purple irises in my back yard now that came from my Grandmother’s yard. She has been in heaven since March of 1999. I also have some yellow irises that came from my Mother’s back yard also. I believe she told me that my Daddy’s mom shared them with her. So, I have some generational flowers in my yard. All of these ladies had a love for flowers and had a green thumb. Their yards always looked so pretty. I think that is where I get my love for gardening and flowers. It gives me such a good feeling to plant something and see it grow! 😊 Happy Resurrection Day to all of your family!❤

Hi Tipper, Matt and family. Wonderful video today, while I was doing chores; you make it enjoyable always. I really do appreciate your sentimentality and it's association with family and traditions, as well as special memories. I have also done that throughout my life, starting at about twelve years old. We celebrate everything in life, not only holidays. The Lord has given us so many great things and people to treasure. I also like that you embrace where you live and the beauty around you. I moved to NorCal eight years ago at the age of 60, after living in the Chicago area my whole life. A drastic change, but wow, I really love it more here every day and thank God for that crazy life change. 😅. Thank y'all for sharing all the things you cherish with us. Peace and love.

“Having a popsicle without me! That’s almost like cheating! Almost!” “ My husband is great, I worship the ground he walks on!”Matt is hilarious! 😂😂 what an awesome sense of humor he has! He reminds me of my precious Daddy, God rest his soul. He had a sense of humor just like Matt’s! Gosh, how I miss that! I had mixed beans for supper yesterday. I mixed pintos & great northern beans. That’s my favorite. I cooked some chunks of lean pork in with them. I baked veal chops to go along with them & the other side dishes. Mama & I are getting our garden started, as well. It was already 86 degrees & humid as the dickens here yesterday! It’s barely April! We are in the dead head of A southern “Sprummer”! I am so seriously NOT looking forward to summer! Can Matt, Mama & I just crawl into a mountain cave and “ hermitize” ourselves through June, July & August?! Happy Easter Tipper, Matt, Granny, Corie, Katie, Austin & Nick….& the entire Wilson/Pressley clan. God bless you all.

I'm like you, ma'am, in that my favorite time of the year outdoors is the few days in spring when the trees flower and begin leafing out. There is just something about seeing the various shades of light green, red, pink, purple and white while you can still make out the limbs in the tree tops that touches my soul in a special way. The redbud in my yard I wrote about a few days back will be in full bloom for Easter Sunday this year. May the Promise of Easter lift up your hearts and give you the only hope that really matters in this world, that of the world to come!

One of the sweetest things I think I have ever seen, when you said you planted right back here, Matt turned around to see where you were talking about. That small act of kindness and respect truly touched my heart. In fact I actually said 'wow' So many husbands after a hard day's work in the heat would have listened but not turned around to actually see what and where, knowing what you were talking about. But, Matt turned to look and really wanted to know more about what was important to you! That wasn't a huge thing, but yet one of the kindest things I have seen. Good Job Matt!! Y'all are such an amazing family and an inspiration to us all!! Now, the Sun is coming up, everyone is still asleep, I'm going to go work on my flowers. You brought a tear to my eyes talking about the generations of your Irises. My great, great grandmother brought African Violets from Germany when she came to America. She gave some to my Great Grandmother, who gave the off springs to my Grandma, who passed off spring to my mom. My mom took great care of them. Unfortunately, my mother was hospitalized for a long time before she passed, and there was no one to care for her violets. I tried to save them, but was too late. I always wanted to keep the tradition going.

My starts go back generations. My great great paternal grandmother gave a start to my great grandmother when she immigrated from Sweden in the 1870s. She gave a start to my grandmother who gave starts to her children and now I grow them. I do not know if any of the present younger generation are growing them. Another fun time with Tipper. thank you! I have really old Irises too. I took them out of the original bed and then just tossed them alongside of the deck. There they have been for over ten years! I started two new flower beds last year so I dug some up….and never got them replanted. I just threw them in a planter box. I hope they made it through the winter. I am thinking I got them from my sister close to twenty years ago, when we built the house! I too plant nasturtiums along the edges of all the beds. Last year I had a couple strays come up. They are so delightful. Every year I say I am going to eat some of the flowers and leaves and then I never do. I try not to envy your weather. Our snow is melting. Today it melted enough that a jar of gravy that I had put in the snow around New Years was finally visible and I chipped it out! I use the deck for a freezer in the winter or to at least cool things off! Have a beautiful Easter celebration with all your family. God bless you and keep you all. AND…I am going to start rewarding my hard work in the yard with Outshine popsicles this year!! Hopefully that will be in about a month!

Horseradish is very invasive, it will take over your whole garden quickly. My brother planted a small pot of it and it almost took over his whole yard. He had a hard time getting it out, he ended up having to till the yard and replant grass. He gave me a few so I had some old plywood and I cut it into pieces about 3 feet by3 feet and buried it making like a box and I was able to contain the Horseradish. It worked for several years until the plywood rotted. I think it would be easier to grow it in a container, but it will need watering daily. Good Luck with yours.

Last year (my first spring/summer after I bought my house) I found a clump of iris back by the alley that desperately needed lifting and divided, so a friend of mine helped me dig them up. I put them along the sidewalk leading up to my front door and am eagerly waiting to see if any of them bloom this year. I also got my usual zinnias (thumbalinas this year; the 36" ones last year were just a bit too high for my taste) and saved some of the seeds from my yellow marigolds that I'll scatter in the bare areas, especially the circle where I had a big piece of a tree trunk sitting in the lawn. I also put up a finch feeder and a hummingbird feeder just outside the big picture window in the living room. Hopefully I'll attract some goldfinches and chickadees in addition to the hummies.

We watched this in bed after a long day of my cancer treatments and running to the hospital and the store and babysitting the infant great granddaughter and then an evening visit from the son’s family You were spelling out in great length all you wanted to get done and I finally said Well stop talking and get to work! I know you have to narrate the video but it’s cute then when you do get to work you have to speed up the video like an old time movie to make up for your yapping lol Not complaining Don’t change a thing Love you folks

I love the iris, and I have so many different colors, and I like that you can lay them down and put a rock on them and they will live. Heck, I've even thrown them in a ditch and they grew.

Shew eeee i get tired just watching you do all that work. Tipper you looked so lonesome taking that Popsicle break without Matt. We had our brown beans and corn bread supper tonight too with soupy potatoes. It was a balmy 80 degrees here yesterday and a chilly 45 degrees today with rain.

Love your being sentimental, I am also. I have Garden Phlox that mom called Sweet William, from 2003 when I brought them from MO to KY. Y'all are really REAL in this one.😊 Hopefully you rested well. Thanks for sharing. ❤

Here in north Louisiana we have had nothing but rain for the last several days. It’s even flooding in areas in our town. With all this rain our trees have really greened up.

Y’all are such a cute couple. I really enjoy seeing you two talking. Tipper you did a weeks worth of work in a day girl. Hope y’all didn’t get as much rain as we did over here in Scaly. We are about flooded. Our creek sounds like a giant waterfall. Again, Happy Easter. 😊❤😊🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Birds! Still have ice and snow in my neck of the weeds. I won't hear those birds in Montana until April 20.

Beautiful, Purple Bearded Iris is what we call them in Spain. Ours are nearly finished flowering, end of April they will all be gone. I transplant some every year, they might not flower this year but that bank will look beautiful next year. Happy Gardening!

My Grandmother used to make homemade popsicles. Sooo good. Strawberry, Peach, and Honeydew. Puréed the fruit with water and sugar. Probably very similar to Outshine. Happy Spring!!
