Love your video . You can even use just yoghurt and paint stones or pots with that, if your stones are in shade the moss is pretty much guaranteed to appear of its own accord. And will, as a bonus be of the self-selected kind , for purpose and conditions .
@pennyfulton34185 жыл бұрын
Also you don't need to worry about the rain washing the SPORES off, they are miniscule enough, by design of the great gardener in the sky, to sink into porous surfaces and stay there !

I enjoyed learning about moss growing. Thanks for sharing your how-to. I know you have since been on a holiday. I'm curious as to how your moss is doing now (a month later)

Thanks for all the great comments Lea :o) Sadly the moss didn't take - it's just far too dry here. I'll have another go in the wetter weather as I think you can do this any time of the year.
@Bryanboi1005 жыл бұрын
Water has to be non chlorinated. Daily misting is required. I also think that you have to paint on more than one coat at a time, spread across a few weeks

Do you have some updates on your rockery, would be nice to know if it worked with the skimmed milk 😎 have a good evening!
@tiffanyraymond90024 жыл бұрын
Where is the update to this video. Did the moss grow or not?
@BionicRasta Жыл бұрын
It didn't work because moss likes to grow in damp shady conditions & that spot is exposed to full sun & south facing so would dry out & die off. I have it on my north facing outhouse roof that is in shade so maintains moisture. Rick clearly didn't think this one thru but it gets views & no doubt makes some money. So i guess he's having the last laugh on an otherwise failed experiment. Judging by more recent shots of his garden the pond has been dismantled, either the fish died or too much faff? but not sure if the rockery is still there?
@alicedarby715 Жыл бұрын
@@BionicRasta so you've managed using this technique? Fascinating 🤗

You should try using a mix of 5cups potting soil, and 1 cup clay. Mix with a small amount of water till it kind of binds together. Take a cup of that mix and dice 1cup of moss with scissors into it. Take the remaining first mix add 2 cups of some sphagnum moss. This will be your substrate mix. Spread it on your rock about a half inch thick. Then take the living moss mix and spread that thinly on the substrate mix. If the concern is a lack of water mix in a couple tablespoons of blended water beads into the substrate mix.
@freshimpactco.86985 жыл бұрын
@@katerinachelmis568 That's a very good recommendation Kat. I have seen similar videos that also have this mixture of soil and clay. It seems to work better this way.
@tommylee28948 жыл бұрын
I swear the production values of your last few video's seem to be a couple ticks better. Contrast and Sharpness, nearly zero glare...artifacts,. And great depth of angle. Sound is crisp. btw the Japanese like to put moss at the base of their Bonsai trees. Also putting those rocks that you covered in moss in a depression that will hold water, will allow the rock to soak up water, thus the moss will too...maybe get very shallow clear dishes to put under the moss rocks and keep them filled with water.

Did the milk powder work?? Otherwise try this. Take a clump of healthy moss and crumble it into your blender. Add 2 cups of buttermilk and 2 cups of water Blend at the lowest speed until it is completely mixed and the consistency of a thin milk shake. (add water if necessary) Paint the mixture onto rocks, pots or statuary, or simply pour it on the ground wherever you'd like your moss to grow!

I believe I know where you got the instructions for this. The pinterest DIY project where they painted the word "Grown" on the sides of a building? Unfortunately that DIY project is fake and the pictures were taken from an artist named Anna Garforth. Propagating moss is easiest done in large chunks. Just cut it out keeping some dirt on the bottom and place it around your rock garden and keep it moist, no buttermilk/moss smoothie needed.

I'm American, and I agree with you 100% You will have to forgive the idiots here, they are so excited about seeing this, as you becoming your own country again, (their view) that they say really stupid things. It's just good to see people standing up for themselves. It's not even about who was right or wrong, it was seeing people getting involved again. Too bad that many are too foolish to know when they are insulting someone. All I can say is, God bless you, and remember, we are having a really hard time here, and I think we needed to see a country fighting again, no matter which side you were on. Bless, Sheila
@Sheila63258 жыл бұрын
Everyone I know here is really excited, and they didn't even understand what the real issues were. However they really did need to see a country fighting for what they want, no matter which side they were on. That's what we needed to see, and that's why many of the ignorant here will be saying a lot of very stupid things. Have mercy on us, because there are so many that are so worn out from the "rule" here, a lot of people gave up on ever being able to do anything about our crooks in the Government again. Everything here is fixed, and now Americans have watched the two sides going at it, and it got them really excited to see people fighting back. It didn't matter which side you were on, it was people getting active again. So if some idiot says something really insane, please forgive them, we are like kids watching a game, and seeing our team win for the first time in 100 years. Ok, I know that sounds stupid, but it's the truth. My prayers are with you, and I really do believe you will be able to ride this through. Bless, Sheila
