Trying to make sense of SMT V: Vengeance lore (OBVIOUS SPOILERS)

I think the Yoko thing is supposed to be that she’s Amaterasu. They talk about (but never follow up) about how she disappeared one day after the Japanese gods were all defeated. Also I think the whole Knowledge/ Life thing is a carry over from DevilMan (a lot of SMT comes from DM) in which when devils/ humans fuse, it’s either whoever’s Will is stronger (ie, if Baal is strong enough to beat Naho then he’s strong enough to become the leading consciousness) or it’s just a 50/50 on who’s in charge. But I could be wrong. Baal and Zeus are both technically wrong after all as when they defeat the Nahobino, he just dies lol.

I was always under the impression that the protagonists lack of knowledge or whatever was why his tsukuyomi form looks and acts so different from the Yuzuru version

I feel like that's probably just because Nahobino are fusions, so it isn't like the Life half has the sole influence on their appearance

Command type Proto-fiend who is actually claimed to be stronger if you fused with them than both the Combat type (Aogami) and logistics type (Tsukuyomi) mentioned, has a side quest for Amaterasu's Keystone(?) (or whatever it was), never mentioned again in the whole game. Absolutely ridiculous how you never see her they literally even mention Tsukiyomi has a sister HOW IS THIS NOT TALKED ABOUT MORE

It lead me to believe that there could be a DLC for her but I'm not convinced because of Atlus rarely doing DLC I hope they show at least her Knowledge who they mention as particularly strong, At least another sidequest or SOMETHING

Honestly I kind of glaze over whenever they start talking about the Proto-fiends. It's really corny and borderline means nothing with how little they expand on the concept despite throwing so many ideas about them at you

@Pystoria my thing is I think yes it is a very very big improvement over vanilla which has one of the most lackluster bland stories in Atlus history, this time around I think they actually tried.. until the time shakan starts I think stuff just falls apart there they literally fell into the same traps they fell into with with vanilla, such a shame too I think it had so much potential to be great

CoV is very obviously an improvement on the original plot but it does feel off in some places, I feel like one too many plot points are glossed over and it’s almost lwritten like you have to play both to get the full context of somethings.

Yay someone whose trying to hash out the lore! Im not alone😭😭 1) I always assumed that when they say bull god they meant Marduk the whole time, kind how God of Law is always the God of Law and bunch of his other names. So when Thoth said "he was no bull god", i understood it to mean hes nothing like Marduk 2)Yeah idk how Tiamat was supposed to take the throne as,like, THE snake/dragon god lol. Maybe Yoko's power as a goddess could take the curse off, since its the goddess who guide Nahobino to the throne originally? 3)You make a really good point and i also makes me wonder about Tao too. Maybe she wasnt sealed because her powers came to be after gods death? 4)THANK YOU this has been a brain goblin for a while!! This whole Tsukuyomi thing is so confusing. Protofiends bug me because where are like the "master copies" or whatever. Where's actual Susano'o, and how do you get Susano'o from Tsukuyomi as a template if hes also a protofiend lol (Also shoutout to primordial mommys)

Your first point definitely makes sense to me, not totally sure that was the intention behind the line but I can go with it. When it comes to the rest I'm glad to know I'm not alone and to help people feel the same way! Overall I loved Vengeance and the characters and am gladly working to 100% it (slowly lol) but the lore is sooooo wack. I also could've mentioned the timeline for when Yoko started working for the Qadistu and how they learned of the Nahobino so quickly, like I assume they figured a horned god would rise up so Yoko being a sleeper agent or something running into the protagonist was just luck, but is that actually how it was? I guess we'll never know

Well who the hell is marduk? Ive played 3,strange journey, 4, 4a and smtvv. Is marduk like the axiom or great will type shit or just the first nahobino?

Marduk is the horned god and first person to use the Throne of Creation in V's world, who established the system of oppression against other gods, especially those of snakes. They don't say his name very often and I think he's only playable in Personas 1-2 and a few more obscure entries.
