I honestly believe nothing could have prevented WW1. Everyone and their neighbour wanted that war. However, I do believe it is absolutely possible to prevent WW2. So that would be my goal here. Survive WW1, and stop WW2. All that after blowing up the titanic in the port of course, so that that voyage never happens. Of course, to prevent WW2, there are several steps to be taken: Either: Germany wins the war. Or: The Versailles treaty has to beat that point changed significantly. So, whatever changes the timeline at that point, the next step would have to be fixing the things in Germany that made Hitler's reign possible. Germany is currently forming a new government. I'll date a politician and that politician will make sure that the checks and balances that the current german constitution has are already in that first draft, omitting the "martial law" rule that Hitler used to take power. As well as having a clear paragraph prohibiting anyone to be discriminated against for their religious or political beliefs, while also prohibiting parties that go against the constitutional framework such as communist parties and the royalists. Now I convince the parliament that THE most important thing right now is a good education system. I suggest having religious education which has to include other religions in an objective way. Now German children will learn facts about jews that will make them immune to propaganda. I also suggest political education where you learn about cultural differences between countries in an objective fashion. If the children understand other nations, they're less likely to attack. While this is happening, you kill Hitler. (Or rather pay someone to shank him in prison, before he comes out of there to fuck up your plans of Jewish empowerment) You'll also need to prevent the insane hyperinflation that fucked up Germany in the 1920s. Maybe already try to make first steps towards an all-European currency. Now, all there is to do is changing jews in the public image. How do you do that? You use your knowledge of the future to have jews invent things that Germany needs, which will make them impressed. And you have to make sure that jews create jobs for the Christians. Get the Jewish community to donate a hefty sum towards the reparation payments Germany has to pay. Make this a public event. Have every newspaper write about it. You now have educated Germans that do not resent the Jewish people and have an easier time rebuilding Germany.

The mistake they made was reversing the engines as it reduced the rudder's effectivity. If they had just turned the tiller it would have easily cruised around the iceberg. Also the rudder wasn't big enough compared to the rest of the massive ship.

One of the actual causes of the disaster was that the crewman with the key to the binoculars cabinet didn't turn up on the day.
@lukechalkley93903 жыл бұрын
Binoculars wouldn't help. Pitch black midnight, completely still water, no light from the moon. You would spot the iceberg with binoculars around the same time your eyes would. Binoculars would be used to check/identify what the lookout saw, not scan for objects. If it were daytime it would be different.

@@iliketowatchvideos47 Huh? Did you even watch the clip? The question in the show was about a very specific _hypothetical_ scenario. You were sent back in time to Southampton just before it departs, armed only with the knowledge of what happened (and period clothing). Given these parameters, I'm pretty certain you *could* stop it from happening. You could do something crazy to try to delay the departure, you could try to break into the bridge and change course, you could tell all the crew they were going to hit an iceberg (in the hopes that this will cause them to be more cautious) etc. etc.
@myyaoibetch4 жыл бұрын
One thing that has been pointed out is that even if there were more lifeboats, the boats were launched very slowly (there's a TON of cranking too, even if you know how to use the system!), the first being lowered a full hour after hitting the iceberg.
