Maybe for permanent roof, get the corrugated translucent smoky gray roofing panels so the birds still get light, but still protects them.

The Crown pigeons will only take a bath in the rain. I forgot if that's the same with some of the other ones. A roof wouldn't allow that to happen.

My 93 year old Daddy always set up his sprinklers for our fall/winter gardens (which was never started in a hot house) and would spray the frost off of them before the sun hit them, because the sun on the frost is what would burn them. We live in Pensacola, Florida. And we enjoy watching y’all.

When I lived in Maryland my sister and I had planted a big Spring and Summer garden on Saturday. I came home from a late nite at work on Monday and was listening to the 11pm TV news while getting ready for bed. Oh no, a surprise major frost warning. I called and woke my sister up, got dressed, gathered all the empty containers I had along with a big stack of newspapers and 2 flashlights. It was midnight by the time I got to my Sis's house. We covered every plant in the garden to protect them. My sister griped and complained the entire time, lol. We only lost half of one tomato plant while other people had to replant most of their entire gardens. I was happy an old timer had taught me how to make newspaper frost hats with the folded edge and how to put rocks or soil in the fold to hold them down, that saved a lot of the seedlings. We had a great garden that year. In that region it's not safe to plant before Mother's day and even after Mother's Day you have to be prepared for frost.

Do the aviary like your green house is. Staple the plastic to the top with a canvas strip. staple the bottom to a wooden pole for weight on the bottom and so it smoothly rolls out and use a canvas strip again on top of the plastic to discourage ripping. Then you can attach canvas strips along the sides to stiffen them and allow for tie backs or Velcro to be attached to close the gaps on the corners. That will keep the edges from ripping and allow the winterizing to be raised and lowered easily like an awning.

Good morning. Jason and Brooke; MaryCarl. Cold is the enemy. 24 degrees yesterday and they turned my natural gas off, there goes the heat. My gas pipes are leaking, the man that cut the gas off assured me the temperature would get up to 39 soon. I loaded my bed with blankets, it was 5 pm. Just woke up, 3 am the Siberian Husky is in my bed. She never sleeps in my bed. I got up and flipped you tube on, and there you were. Prayers from Muskogee Oklahoma. Enjoy your videos, Long time Cog Squad member. Thank you for being here, even at 3 in the morning. Under the piles of blankets I go, I put a jacket, Morning, Arlo.😊

Hello, Jason; JP here from Texas: option 1: affix the plastic cover to the aviary by using a ¼” board at the link of the area. That way, you increase the tension area and reduce tears and not to mention it's easier to remove and put back. Option 2: As far as the bottom, use 1" to 2" PVC pipe filled with sand so it will not tear your cover... easy peasy... Option 3: You also can leave the cover on. Just cut half-moon holes. That way, your birds will get air and stay warm, and you won't have to remove anything...When it gets windy, use tape to close the half-moon openings. I hope this helped… Hook ‘Em

for the top and the meddle use tin screws with canvas and Velcro along the ridge boards. The canvas keeps the plastic from ripping away from the nail's tacks or staples. Up here in Iowa we will use lath boards to nail plastic to encase our whole house and can last for years. But for you canvas will do so you can roll up the plastic as needed. I just thought of something you could use the 1- or 2-inch-wide cloth bandages used for packing wounds to make strips to staple the plastic under and attach Velcro on and it would be cheaper that buying canvas or maybe use a canvas like ribbon that might be even more inexpensive. But of you attach the plastic to the tin with tin screws and the sides with wood screw and then to a wood rod on the bottom or end and Velcro on the sides and center supports it will allow you to roll up and down the plastic as needed like an awning rolls up and down.
