I think you're currently my favorite KZbin channel. interesting old tech stuff, dankpods style but with more chill vibes, that glorious australian accent, plus beautiful synthwave (edit: and Minecraft OST!) playing the whole time? perfection.

The PowerBook 190 has the distinction of being the last grayscale Macintosh ever sold by Apple. And the last 68040 processor machine! Thanks for the video.

Thank you for this video! Very glad you posted it although we all had to witness the moment of death. I just got a powerbook 190cs in just about the same condition. A little less battery leakage, but pretty much the same situation with the hinges and trackpad. Without this video I doubt I had been able to open it at all. Now it's in a hundred parts all over my desk. Considering doing the same fix as you; supergluing the heck out of it. There's no way I can get these plastic pieces together. It's far too fragile.

The clicking coming from the machine is likely a dead hard drive. If you replace the HDD it might work again.

I honestly had the same thing happen. I took a 190, 190CS screen, and what was left of a 5300 to create a working unit. It does work and it does have an SSD, but the display is having some issues where half the screen it’s glitched out.

The Power supply mightve been just providing low voltage due to bad caps on the charger, I had a problem where a iBook G4 connected to a 12v charger would just randomly throw the fan to full speed and the HDD running and no chime, tried using another custom charger and it worked (24v) TLDR: A robust charger is required to run the Powerbook directly via the wall
