Fun fact for you about “Heaven” at his concert he told us the meaning of the “counting to 15” lyric that repeats throughout. He told us that when he was a kid and realized he might be gay that he made a ‘deal’ of sorts with himself that if he was still having gay thoughts by the age of 15, than he “had a problem” but as long as the thoughts changed by 15 he was ok. So him saying “counting to 15” throughout the song is kind of a desperate last attempt/hope of being “normal”

Ariella Waters a healthy reminder that being the perfect textbook twink face and physique doesn't mean he's been eagerly bottoming since his first relationship. Stereotypes are averages, and don't mean we should assume anything about anyone's private details.
@alexandraskinner97704 жыл бұрын
Troye legit had a tweet about Bloom and hashtagged #bopsaboutbottoming, he said he deleted it because his parents follow him on twitter and he felt weird about it. But also, he's probably tired of people assuming that he has to be either a top or a bottom, because like, that's just not how it works for everyone. But, Bill definitely was right.
@cristinawill92314 жыл бұрын
@@tealrose3248 ariella literally just shared that it's troye himself who tweeted that the song is about bottoming 😭 anyway, yes, thank you for the explanation about 'twink' stereotypes and troye himself admits that he's not really a "bottom" (he heavily implies he's vers but not the point, i know), this is just a song about that particular situation he experience for the first time. Disregarding the sexual position, just like this reactor said, the song is about being sexy yet vulnerable and i love how he grasped that key point the 1st time he listened to this. (unlike people who focuses on the sexual position instead of the actual message of the song, that it's the singer's first time in something and he's excited and anticipating it yet fearful at the same time) for that, i am subscribing to this channel.

The lyrics of "the good side" are pretty obvious if you've been following him for a while and you pretty much got the message spot on.. he was dating somebody who was also in the public eye and seemed to really struggle with the breakup, whilst Troye fell in love with the guy he's been with for quite a while now, went on tour and had his family around him, helping him to be happy. You should also react to the blue neighborhood trilogy, it's an older project of his, but it's basically a short film told through three music videos and it's emotional as heck.. I'm sure you'll love it!

i had the same feelings about the song Heaven. my parents are atheists so i was raised without religion, im also bi and trans, and to some degree i knew that lgbtq folks who are religious usually have a harder time coming to terms with their identity, but i never *really* understood what that meant until i heard Heaven. "Without losing a piece of me, how do I get to heaven?" is just such a powerful lyric.

Heaven used to be such a difficult song for me to listen to. I remember Troye was one of the first out artists I started listening to and it hit me too hard because as a teenager I remember staying up begging God to show me what to do because I absolutely wanted to do the right thing but I also couldn't understand how loving was wrong or why it was wrong. It's hard to explain to people without faith but it wasn't a community or culture I was afraid of losing, God is genuinely like, the overwhelming sense of love I feel I used to feel like my heart and stomach had been ripped out to imagine life without him and I knew even if it made me misserable I would be miserable if I had to be. Thankfully it was God who taught me to listen to him and not what people say about him and ironically the stronger my faith got the more I was able to come out. But that song used to be one I had to skip when I was younger. I'm glad it spoke to you in the way it did. I'm gonna add to what I guess load of people have said and say you have to do the Blue Neihbourhood Trilogy videos because that was when a lot of people sat up and started paying attention to Troye and they were an important impact. (Also because Troye always makes me think of them, there is a British band called Years and Years who emerged a similar time with that electronicish sound and beautiful atypical male vocals. I'm not sure they're that known in the US but their debut album went no.1 in 2015/16 in the UK. They have some really beautiful lyrics and very interesting videos I've feel like you'd enjoy if you ever get the chance to check them out.)

Bloom is about bottoming, The Good Side is about a different person than Bloom. He dated youtuber Connor Franta and they had a bad breakup and that’s what it’s about. Take Yourself Home was written in 2019 and was supposed to be about how he is torn between living in LA or living in Australia with his family. I'm a bit older, as they say, and today's pop music isn't always my thing (no judgement here - I've never fallen for that "my music is better than yours" stuff. It's all about diversity). Anyway, the crazy good thing about Troye's music is that it is so enjoyable on the surface, yet so relatable when you consider the lyrics. I’ve seen multiple people recommend dodie and I would love to see this. Like 6/10, Secret for the Mad, She, Guiltless, Sick of Losing Soulmate, etc. I would love that video!

I forgot how much I love Troye, thank you for an amzing reaction! If you do a part 2 then like everyone else I really suggest the Blue Neighborhood trilogy on youtube (trigger warning for abuse and suicide tho so be careful). Other than that I think you would really enjoy AJR! They have a song talking about The Office! If you do a video about them I suggest: Birthday Party Karma Don’t Throw Out My Legos Dear Winter Netflix Trip (this is the one about The Office) Call My Dad They’re such an awesome band of brothers, I think you’ll really enjoy them. I know you usually only do 5 songs but last time I commented this ppl kept pointing out that I forgot Karma and I was so surprised that it wasn’t on my list so yeah.. 6 songs

For me Troye does an incredibly good job of capturing this sense of like being young and coming to terms with your sexuality, those first experiences as a baby gay, having your first relationship or intimate moments with another man, he touches on a lot of those feelings young gay men feel when they first start getting to be themselves

I've seen troye live twice now. The power in the room every time he performs heaven is incredible, especially throughout the bridge the crowd is so intense. Being bisexual I cry every time for so many of my friends who have experienced that exact feeling. Thank you so much for listening to Troye Bill! His sound is very different so I'm glad to see people giving him a chance 💛
