So for the first time in over 10 years I've actually tried to let go on doing every inch of every job when it comes to preparing our sales cars.......clearly it shouldn't have taken this long and lets be honest......will it really happen going forward......im starting to think my OCD is slightly worse than I thought. What I do know is.....things need to change and Claires going to make it change.
Appreciate the support of the channel as always.
All the best,
Kev and Claire.

Hi Kev, my opinion for what it's worth is that your attention to detail is what differentiates you from the rest, your care and concern is why people buy your cars, don't lose it! but totally understand why it's impossible for you to spend days on each car's prep. Everyone thinks car cleaning is easy, but done well it is an art of technical skill and knowledge. Love the video's!

"An art of technical skill and knowledge".....I Like that Bill, and I tend to agree with you totally, its taken me years to do it properly and im still learning now, people do think its easy but most people seem to think that about this job in general 😏😏😏Appreciate the input Bill, nice one 👍👍👍

I think you had a bit of luck, I know you are fussy with what you buy. Do the same again, buy decent cheaper cars and turn them around using the valeting company. Get it up for sale asap. Then prep if necessary once sold.

It is a work/life choice Kev which only you and Claire can decide, maybe one way to do it (but it will take longer) is to employ a youngster who you can train up to your high standards to be a mini you, then this might assuage your OCD (back in the day there were government schemes that help finance his training, now?), it's nice to be rich but not at the expense of being happy. I've watched your podcast from the beginning, you and Claire seem to be genuine nice people, and I wish you all the best for the future.

Another great insight, from some one who has been there running a buisness - you need to employ a part time person. I know this will feel like a big step but believe me in a very short time you will be employing someone full time and your buisness will grow even faster.

Hi Kev. I mentioned to you before that this was a good idea. Try to find a 3rd party that will do the full wash, alloy wheels, iron fallout, tar& glue, clay bar and a full interior vacuum for a reasonable cost. Find someone, even a local mobile valeter, that you can trust to do that initial clean to your standard. You know how long this would take you to do. So paying a reasonable price for this frees up your time to be better used on other things. That time could be spent doing your due diligence on the catalogue for the next days auction, so you go along well prepared, instead of sitting at home at late o'clock doing this. I know, I've been there.

Either you get a mobile detailer or employ one or do a prewash and hoover and plastics done so good enough to actually picture it and put it up for sale and then once sold do your detail handover where you go to town on it by fully detailing it like you've always done

We all have our thing Kev,mine is building and you're garage gets me,the brickwork is poor, the render, the gap above the door, poor yard concrete, garage floor hurts.Whilst my customers love my attention to detail, they wouldn't know if i just did an average job the same as every other Jo. Stop punishing yourself and offer the extra you do as an extra, full mop and ceramic at x,Windows at x,fabric at x. It's not necessary to do what you do as standard, the fact you are both nice people and sell honest cars is the special bit. Oh and sort that floor out😂

Ha!!!! Blimey Karl thats hilarious......but I totally agree on all parts of what you've said.......very much including the floor....of which now you've said it im going to bring forward on my to do list 🤪🤪I like the idea of charging people for more in depth prep but I think we both know that asking for more money for things like that would put most peoples noses out of joint......but hey ho!! Cheers Karl 👍👍👍

You can really tell your attention to detail after seeing the difference with the car after you had worked your magic on the car. I suppose there is a balance to find given your level of commitment to a vehicle and the time this takes to get even the small details right and focussing on the other elements of your business. I do get the impression that you are loath at now to give up these currently as it is what makes you stand out but I am sure you will work out a way to balance it out. Keep up the good work. 👍

It’s difficult Kev because you sound like hubby and me. We have like a certain standard for how we like the cars to look. We also like them to be ready to drive away as much as possible. There is always a market for cheaper alternatives. Especially the new drivers just passed their test. Good luck on this added direction but you will always have to go over them Kev you know you will 😉

Your attention to detail is an asset to your business, but i understand you want to grow the business, maybe if claire out sources the valeting on the cheaper cars and you concentrate on the newer , more profitable stuff , see how that goes, just a thought 🤔👍

Hi Kev & Claire 😀 Kev the problem you have is you are a perfectionist and will not let anything more than perfection leave your forecourt. Claire you will have to sort him out tell him a good valet is good enough for most garages and the customers are happy to have a nice clean car. Good luck Claire you know you won’t change Kev he can’t help himself he has to make sure the cars he sells are “Kev perfect “. 🤣 great video Kev really enjoyed the story from start to Finnish. I hope mum and dad are keeping well we haven’t seen them on the channel for a while. When is Claire going to the auction Kev? Keep smiling Tom

Let's look at this a slightly different way. I doubt you will ever be happy with anyone else's prep work and I totally understand that. Claire is driving the business forward and is obviously good on the sales side. Maybe then you need to look at getting help with other aspects of the business such as collecting the cars from auction, taking vehicles for MOT, tyres, etc and carrying out general duties that would help to free up your time. Just a thought.

Excellent and well done starting on the journey to develop the business by delegating low value jobs to others. It is the hardest thing letting other people do things that you would have done better but the simple fact is you can't do everything!

Hi both I think you have to do what you think is right, your attention to detail is second to none so with the cheaper cars ease back a little. I am cleaning a dirty car which I have restored over the last six months this Saturday so I decided I will do a Kev special starting at 7.00 am and then thought I better keep Sunday free and start work midday Monday!!!!!!! 😊😊😊😊

Hi Kev, another great video and it’s a tricky one as you don’t really want to pay twice for a valet but clearly getting the turnaround quicker will hopefully help you sell more. I think whatever anyone says you’ll still want to get the car up to your standards so the question really has to be did paying someone else to do it save you enough of your time to make it worth it? If not you might as well do it yourself from scratch. Keep up the great work mate 👍

Hi kev,Claire & alfie,so please stop apologising for not filming or it being late as we genuine watchers know you're busy,so this is what I think for what it's worth,as you are so like me I don't think you can really change that much kev and I realise you want to change for the business but I just don't think you will be able to,the way you are for me is what makes you a great guy and a great place to buy a car from,I wish you good luck for the future but you are you at the end of the day and that's why I started watching the chanel tbh,on a different note claire is a bossy madam isn't she🤣only joking claire, you 2 are great to watch as you bounce off each other and it's good to see, have a good Thursday guy's 🙂👍

You need an apprentice to clean and service your stock and you finish them off while training them to your standard, couple of years down the line you can leave them to it and focus more on the business side.

Under 5/6 grand i wouldn't expect more than a good vac and a jet wash/wax to remove dirt and greenery, I personally wouldnt object to the OPTION of having a full valet at a decent price on top, i mean if i got the chance of a "Kev" valet for £50 id be well happy, and you guys could get a decent takeaway off that. Save your time and skills for the problem cars where you can Add value , at the end of the day were in the UK, 10 days and it will look like its been off road doing the Dakar
