I just repaired my hydraulics on a grey l2202, It would lose prime and I could pressurize the transaxle, get it to work.. it ended up sucking air from around the seal on the input shaft. I was considering ordering a new pump from ebay. but was concerned about this same problem. jobber new stuff is usually worse than factory oe stuff. My tractor only has 960 hours on it. Found the correct seal online, two weeks later I swapped out the one that was hard like a hockey puck , bravo.. works like a charm. seal cost 18 dollars, but shipping was 40. still cheaper than buying a pump that does not work or works poorly.

Nice job finding your air leak. That can be difficult. To be fair, the company that sells this hydraulic pump doesn't publish a flow spec. It is working as intended. Just not as good as an original.
