Love seeing you excitement for making this upgrade.

Remember this formula: HP= GPM x PSI x .0007. from this you know how many HP you have, throttle speed controls your flow, relief valves control max pressure. As long as your framework (bucket and back hoe) can handle the increase in force generated by the larger cylinders you will get more work done. The force generated by the cylinders is PUSH [3.14 x (Cylinder radius x Cylinder radius)] x pressure. PULL is [3.14 x (Cylinder radius x Cylinder radius) - 3.14 x (Rod diameter/2 x Rod diameter/2)] x pressure. Diameters are in inches, force will be in pounds.

That new pump works great. Here’s a tip. When I rebuild an engine I will heat my petroleum jelly until it would pour then add it to the oil pump to prime it. It will quickly convert to its original viscosity soon after it is inside the pump. The same could be done with your pump. Thanks for the video.

I've been following along this upgrade series with you Brock, really quite impressive. Trying to find the exact same thing for my Deere Skid steer for a couple years now - ways to boost the 320G with some upgraded parts to increase performance.. and an LED kid to replace those empty cutouts they have for the side facing lights on the cab. The ability to find a tier 4 delete kit would be a huge bonus, and a Hydro upgrade would really top things off. I thought it may be possible to order some parts like the hydraulic rams from their 340 series skid to beef it up but no idea where one would start. I have not been able to find any Tier 4 delete kits or hydro upgrades for these skid steers at all, let alone videos like you have done here. Thanks for sharing!

I was one of the first purchasers of the Hydros Plus 2R3E solution pump back in 2022. I had need of 10gpm+ performance for a piece of equipment that I have (Hoelscher 1000 bale accumulator). These pumps totally transform the tractor's abilities and efficiencies. The Hydros Plus pump is also made of steel rather than the factory aluminum pump. I have also made other Hydros Plus upgrades. I installed the Stage 1 pump without removing the mid mount mower deck lift system. It was not easy having that in the way. I have subsequently installed the Stage 2 pump and chose to remove the mid mount mower deck lift system resulting in a much easier process of removing and installing pumps.

You definitely are going to have the flow.Upgrading the cylinders is a different animal.No matter which pump you use,the cross sectional area of an upgraded cylinder is going to increase stress on the super structure of the loader.It has too.The new pump will definitely fill the larger bore of an upgraded cylinder,But at what cost?You should do a cross sectional Hyd calculation and show the difference between the 2 cylinders.I like these kinds of vids.Everybody learns something,even if the tractor may become the victim.

Something to consider. To fast can equal broken parts. I worked on a railroad gang in the 90’s. I have seen upgrades just like you are doing. Seemed great at first until the metal around the cylinders fatigued and started breaking. Be careful in the long run you will probably see more issues from the higher speed and or stronger cylinders if you go with bigger cylinders. Good luck.

Good morning Brock. This is all well above my paygrade but I'm curious if you could do the backhoe test one more time with the increased hydraulic flow just for curiosities sake. But, I wouldn't want you to do any damage to your tractor like the hydraulic cylinders or anything. God bless and have a wonderful day. 👍👍🙂

@douglasjackson19989 ай бұрын
When you chose to make a change like this you put yourself in the shoes of the engineers who made the original choices for that tractor. They would/should have had questions in mind like "what's safe?", "what's affordable?", "what fits?", "How do we keep this model tractor in it's place in the line-up?". It'll be fun not to be constrained to keep from robbing market share from bigger tractors. While I don't want to be called "Safety Sally", the point of my comment is just this: Keep it safe, and have fun doing whatever you can afford to do.

1) I hope your warranty has already expired, because if you had any left, it is now void. JD is really shitty about stuff like that. 2) 2 functions at once - Observe when it's actually under load doing some work. Hydraulic flow is going to follow the path of least resistance. 3) Be careful with the idea of changing to larger bore cylinders. You may end up exceeding the strength of material of the implement itself, like the attachment points (pin diameters) and the frame in general.

What is the higher continuous HP draw and heat load when just going over relief.
@T_Humphries9 ай бұрын
Fluid is only flowing across the relief when the pressure exceeds relief set point (3k psi or so) from maxed out cylinder travel or maxed out load limit, When no function is being called for by the operator the pump flow is being directed to tank and will not sheer across relief and cause continuous heat or hp draw
@keithriemersma97939 ай бұрын
@@T_Humphries thanks for your comment. I looked deeper and see the flow path is open center on the control valves so that is correct. Just don't keep asking for movement if a function is deadhead. Thanks again for making me look deeper into the flow path.
