I spent three weeks in Turkey in 2007. The food was always amazing. And, the people were most hospitable. We were there end of April into May. Istanbul becomes a sea of tulips 💐. The Dutch brought them from Turkey. One of my most memorable trips. So glad you made it there.

As an expat Brit who has lived in Turkey for ten years I say always go to a hole in the wall restaurant or café wherever you are, even in places like Istanbul. The food is often cooked by the mother or even grandmother who has been doing it for years. Stay off the tourist routes if you want to eat well!

Thank you so much for your amazing videos! I used to travel quite a lot myself, but due to health issues I am currently unable to travel. Some months ago, I found and immediately subscribed to your channel, so that I can at least video-travel the world through your eyes. (And add to my bucket list, where I want to go once I can travel again ;) Your positivity in every video (even if something goes wrong for you) really helps me a lot to get through rough times. Have a wonderful Christmas time! Greetings from Germany!

Yes! I love the Cappadocia series. Too bad you didn't get in the Open Air Museum. It is amazing. Also, the local dining and folk dance performances are great. FYI... in Turkish... a cat is a kedisi. There is a whole Facebook page called Istanbul Kedisi dedicated to pictures of the cats of Istanbul. If you enjoy cat photos, you will enjoy it. I think Turkey is my favorite country to visit. I also can't say enough about how kind and friendly the people of Turkey are. Thanks for all your wonderful videos!!
@skate2ice

PS... The Cappadocia area goes back at least as far as the Hittites, 6,000 years ago. Alexander the Great brought his armies through the area at one time. St. Paul and St. Peter lived in some of the fairies "huts" before they traveled to Rome... so some of those churches go back almost 2,000 years. It is in the origin of civilization.

I guessed that the sauce on your dessert was tahini, and I was right. Tahini is a liquid-ey paste made of sesame seeds. It is an essential ingredient in humus. I'd really like to congratulate you guys (a-hem, Eric) for not calling chunks of food "wads" anymore. A billion _thank yous_ for that. Now, work on not calling foods and sauces "oily." It's a very unappetizing word. The word food critics use for the good kind of fatty/oily foods is _unctuous._ It still means fatty/oily, it just sounds more appetizing.

Try also the spice market, fish market close by. The big bazzar is a MUST. Incredible pics, but do not buy anything. They are just big price. I really don't know what they called that dessert. "Side"? But, it is "irmik helvasi". The dessert itself is made with fine ground semolina with lots of butter and sugar. The topping is "pekmez" which is, as you guessed correctly, praperad with grape molasses mixed with "tahin" which is sesame paste, not peanut butter. :-)
