So the sorrel is a flower from the hibiscus plant. It’s a great health food. It is more used during the Christmas holidays in Jamaica where it is paired with ginger, white overproof rum and wines. Even better if you have sorrel with Caribbean black cake.

Please try 1) Boukas LA Jamaican Food on Crenshaw/Venice, the jerk chicken, pasta. 2) Natraliart Jamaican Restaurant & Market on Washington Blvd, L.A. -short ribs, snapper, jerk chicken wings plate, 3) Pepper's Jamaican Belizean Cuisine W. Slauson-the oxtails, stewed chicken, potato salad, curry shrimp and plantains are bombastic! 💣All friends and family of ours, I wouldn’t steer you wrong. Some celebrity friends have driven over there to eat. *4)Bayou Grill in La Brea, Ladera Heights-fried oysters, snapper and potato salad, beignets and tea. Wi Jammin, the women staff weren’t the friendliest. The food is average and overpriced but it’s a great hang out spot on weekends. Ice T’s baby mama (Darlene Ortiz) works there on the weekend.

I live nearby and have been a fan for over 20 years but sometimes I get shade from the workers. That turned me off a bit but I'm not going there to make friends. I'm going to eat so I put up with the sometimes shade. Guess it depends on who is working the counter and most of the food is about a 7. Although their fried chicken is usually a 10. And their takeout spot around the corner is always on jam.
