Happy New Years! One shot from Philly to Florida, wow. Once on the way to Florida we stopped at a Cracker Barrel for dinner and the boat was covered in motor oil. Turns out I messed up the oil change and the filter was dripping. Five quarts of oil at the quickie mart after reseating the oil filter and we were on our way. I almost had a stroke when I first saw the oil on the boat. Always an adventure!

Nice new ground tackle. That bigger chain will hold your boat most of the time and the anchor will just be the backup. It’s good to see the marina. We stopped in there last fall on our way to Key West. I noticed the two big old steel trawlers that were towards the end are no longer there. The stray dock cat was living on the boat next to us. I love the chain hardware to connect the anchor... cool system, with a big cotter pin to lock it all together. Looks quality. Those oscillating tool blades for cutting steel... I hate them. Even got a set of Milwaukee carbide tipped and they aren't much better. I will always go angle grinder if at all possible for tasks like that. Should old Roger-Outs be forgot And never brought to mind? Should old Roger-Outs be forgot In the days of auld lang syne?

Hearing an american pronounce capstan is strange as a Brit. We say it as 'Cap-stun'. Same way as Boatswain is pronounced. With Capstan being a mix of Spanish and French. So, us English pronounce it in the correct way (as its not an English word). But boatswain is an English word but from viking times, I believe.

I've owned an EV (Hyundai) now for 5 years and driven over 200,000miles with it. The 12v battery and its charging system is the weakest point in the whole system. I now carry one of those little 12v booster packs after my first 12v battery issue.

Pops worked for GM and that's all I drove and was always tired of premature failures. 40 years later I picked up 2 Lexus's and never looked back, a 14 & an 18 with the NA V6's. They've never been back to the dealer once for any failure whatsoever. I just keep up on my PM's and I'm one happy camper.
