Be careful with the hips. The ratchets in them are known to break. If you still have the box, you can crosscheck your batch number. You can also trim down the springs in the ratchets to prevent breaking.

I checked an online tutorial and compressed the springs multiple times to weaken them up a little, and put a small circle of thin plastic from a Ziploc bag to keep the gears from getting locked together.

Trypticon is the type of figure you kinda just have to choose to like. He isn’t bad by any stretch of the imagination, he just doesn’t do enough to justify the scale and reverence he has. If you’re the type of person who displays their Dinobots in Dino mode then you’ll probably love him, if you aren’t then you’ll probably get stuck on all of the little things he doesn’t quite get right.

This is all fair. Like Unlike Omega Supreme, he just isn't successful enough to justify it on it being a good figure alone, you gotta want a Trypticon first to want this. You can not want an Omega Supreme and be happy with him.

I remember Fry's. I had one in Anaheim Hills when I lived at home. Because we had a lot of firms involved with constructing the Space Shuttle, it was shuttle themed. When I lived on campus, another Fry's was in the City of Industry. That one was a steampunk/railroad/factory theme. It was great for folks who see a soldering iron in their hand. But was unsustainable. There wasn't enough by market to keep Radio Shack going doubtful it could keep something 5x larger

I've been to the Space Shuttle one, I was a little disappointed in it, because there just wasn't as much Theming to that one as I was used to. Never went to the Steam Punk one. Wish I had. I don't know that it was inevitable. I mean Radio Shack closed down because it sucked. Over Priced, and no selection. You only went to them because there was nothing else in the area. With Fry's Gone it's so much harder to fix a computer it's not even funny.

RIP Fry's Electronics. -Titans Return Trypticon, the city base turned giant dinosaur with weapons that eats headmasters, is cool. I don't have this big figure, I wish I do. And I'm okay with not having a Trypticon in my Transformers collection. But then there was news of what Studio Series will do next. And I have a feeling that this titan will return later down the long line.

Yep, first thing I did when I got this (at a secondary market price from a mall-based independent toy store/arcade) was go over Necro/Wipeout's tiny visor with a silver Sharpie as I like my Titan/Prime Masters to have distinct faces; second thing was to disassemble the hips, squeeze the springs multiple times, and put small circles of Ziploc bag plastic between the gearing to keep the ratchets from locking up; and the third thing was to apply the stickers (except for the gold stickers meant to go over the eyes).

[Necro/Wipeout is the Titan Master that forms Full-Tilt's head.] And many copies of Trypticon do have hip joints so strong the gearing of the ratchets will tear themselves apart over time; one's mileage will vary but I figured I'd take the precautions.

Out of all the titans, I find trypticon to be the most accurate, and really my favorite. He feels a lot bigger than any other Titan I own, atleast in terms of weight. The only sturdier titan I own is omega supreme.

Trypticon is my favorite non-combiner Titan, but yeah, the Dino mode is doing ALL the heavy lifting, and it helps the reading that I got a spare for about 50-60 bucks through a liquidator store like Ollie's back in the day.

I got my Trypticon at an outlet store for $50 so I've been very happy with it. It is in a fight diorama with Metroplex, Skylynx, and Omega Supreme with core/legends/scout.... the small ones, scattered about the scene as well. Wheelie is wrapped around Tryp's leg and Tryp is holding Beachcomber up by his arm and chomping on Brawn. Most of my figures are just "on display" but I used a mix of legends et al and titans to make a small diorama in one corner of one of my display shelves. The last time I had a diorama was when I had acquired a mid-isle display from the first TF movie was in theaters. (Well, shortly after, when they went to get rid of the display.) Those displays get really big when you put them up in your house. They don't seem that big at the store but put one in an average room and it really puts it into perspective. That was simply bots on one side, cons on the other ala G1 box art battle scene.

having this guy since around the end of titans return I love him to bits, but I get your points on the city mode, he mainly sat with my seige collection at the time, so i found that the micromasters, battle masters, and weaponizers from that line really help fill out the city, especially if you got siege brunt, i found a couple good ways to use the 5mm ports to turn him into an extra repair station in city mode, and for trypticon's godzilla mode, he makes a really nice wrist mounted cannon and claw extension if you arrange it the right way

Fantastic review PerspectiveEnd!!! Be glad your copy of Trypticon does not have a serious flaw like mine does. My copy of Trypticon has a bent peg, and its the peg that locks the leg into the hip, so one leg is always loose. (grunt) Despite this Trypticon remains one of my favorite Titan class figures, especially when you add Siege Brunt to make more tiny cannons. lol Keep on being amazing.

@@PerspectiveEnd You're welcome. It did at first, so I tried to bend the peg back to its original shape, but moving the leg around bent it back. (sigh) There are a few fan modes for Brunt that look fairly decent, but the most G1 accurate is attaching Brunt's legs/cannon on top of Full-Tilt in Trypticon's city mode and making a middle tower in between Trypticon's gray cannons. The other parts of Brunt become additional cannons that can be attached anywhere collectors want. lol :D

OH MY GOD!!! Back when I lived in Texas, we had two Frys, and me and my dad loved going there! Then we visited family one year recently after the pandemic and they were closed. It absolutely broke our hearts. Even though I was never much of a techie, I still had a heart for that place. I really wish I could have been to the one in your area. It looks like it was absolutely wild. One of the ones in Texas was western themed and the other didn't have any particular theme to it, but it was still big and had a really cool coffee shop inside of it. Damn the pandemic, and to some degree, damn online shopping too! I have a feeling both played a part in killing amazing stores like Frys. Hopefully at some point, the company will start making a gradual comeback like Toys R Us is doing.

I sorta like this figure myself. and apparently, at least based on what i remember there is a comic that states, the Reason why Full tilt, "the purple car guy" is a headmaster now is because Trypticon had blown up at some stage and needed to be rebuilt, the titanmaster/headmaster component is actually Trypticons black box that has his backup memory unit or something. That at least to me implies that Full tilt somehow IS trypticon now. this is also the intended reason why his head can plug into the Dinosaur head.

I wanted this figure for Christmas when it came out but my dad got confused and bought the G1 rerelease instead and it became my favorite figure in my collection. It’s small but it can walk on it’s own and some great chrome and the amazing due of Full tilt (who transforms in one step and is his car buddy) and his purple tank buddy Brunt (who could come apart and turn into buildings but no robot mode). Man, I just love G1 Trypticon. Plus, the G1 version has a button to make Full tilt roll.

People took issue with this guy not being as big as T30 Metroplex but I think the issue with Metroplex is that he’s just and on the lanky size while this guy is more beefed out. This guy has the bulk to feel like a titan.

this is the only titan class transformer i own because a shop near me was selling him mint in box for $90 and my mum bought it for me for my birthday. its not perfect, but i love it. i always loved trypticon, having grown up with all the numerous godzilla movies, seeing what was basically mechagodzilla as a goddamn transformer was the coolest thing. so finding him for that price i had to have it. its a fun figure too. i dont care for the city mode, the ship mode is flawed but i still enjoy it, but the robot(?) mode i adore. hes so huge over everyone and i love having him tower over my cybertron battlefield holding my potp beachcomber. besides the optimus vs megatron centerpiece, he has the most presence in the display. i just love the giant mechagodzilla transformer.

I remember when I first got this guy for around $60-$70 on BBTS. First, and still only, Titans class city transformer I’ve ever had. And since I have bad OCD, I couldn’t help but to put the stickers on. And I gotta say, while I mostly got the stickers positioned correctly, foil stickers are a lot more tricky compared to LEGO sticker sheets-since those feel like proper stickers. However, relating to some of the recent reveals, now that SS is doing the WFC/FOC game designs for its line I have to wonder if we’ll be able to get our first SS Titans class figures in the form of FOC Omega Supreme, FOC Trypticon, and WFC Metroplex. We certainly never got those figures for the original WFC/FOC lines, and if Hasbro is right about their release windows for said potential Titan Class figures, they could make a nice profit off of them; so long as they’re a somewhat cheaper option compared to Planet-X figures.

I didn't get the Titans Return version of Trypticon because I'd picked up the Platinum Edition G1 reissue only a couple of years before, and I love its battery-operated, motorised features too much for any remake to take its place. The TR version is also, what, twice the size of the original? Larger? So I wouldn't really have anywhere to display or store it anyway. Those domed structures on his hips - the outer extents of his base mode - I'd always thought of as Space Bridges: sufficiently far away from the core of the base structure that any transport 'accidents' don't do untold damage to Trypticon itself, but easily accessible nonetheless. They're not quite the open circular structures of the G1 cartoon, but I figure the ones the Decepticons built on Earth were a bit rough-and-ready, the bare minimum to guarantee operation. Important question: is there any documented way for Siege Brunt to interact with Trypticon? The clip on his chest appears to be intended only for Full Tilt, but base mode Trypticon really deserves that mega-cannon...

Yeah, that's a big problem for me. Where do I store this because he's not just tall, he's deep front to back. That's a cool Rationalization of what those could be. Not that I know of or remember. Someone like Baltmatrix might have pointed it out at some point, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't a way for it to work out.

I’m almost positive the Fans Toys creak is mostly caused by them not caring about using the same plastic throughout the moving pieces of their joints. For all of HasTak’s faults, they do painstakingly work in different materials to prevent creaks and supposedly wear. They often cause problems like color matching and brittleness or yellowing by doing so, though.

The problem with Titan base modes is that they are trying to be 2 things, 1, an utterly enormous city that themselves would be twice the size of something like the ark, which itself will never bee I'm scale comparing it to the tiny figures it comes with, and 2, a play set that works with normal scaled figures, that's why omegas base mode works so well, because it only needs to be 1 of those things.

Yeah that does Make sense. Omega is supposed to be a singular small structure, which makes sense because while he's a Titan figure in the toyline, he was no where NEAR as big as guys like Metroplex or Trypticon.

I have this guy, and he’s definitely a figure that needs a few TR Leaders (and a Brunt or two) to buff up his base mode. Btw purple car guy is named Full-Tilt. Don’t worry, not many people remember his name, he was kinda forgotten by HasTak and the general fandom.

This Trypticon has the same ability as RoTF Devastator, as in he swallows his enemies, except Trypticon probably uses it to gain more power instead of destroying them.

@@PerspectiveEnd , The cliff jumper is awesome. In case you forgot cliff jumper in TFP was its own design instead of a repaint of bumblebee. But my fav part of cliff jumpers design in that show was his modified 1970 barracuda alt mode.

Ahh Trypticon. The station used to manufacture Dark Energon, destroyer of Iacon, and theft of massive world monuments that he can just uplift with no one even bothering to stop him because he's Trypticon, he's just that unstoppable. Truly, a weapon to surpass Metal Gear. I plan on leaving..Much room for him and Omega Supreme on my shelf.

Hi Perspective End, I think it is very important that you mention this. The Titans Return version has a thigh spring break risk. This issue is not present on the Takara Legneds version, so it is more highly recommended to get that. Now as a collector of Zoids, I should love Trypticon too, but I find myself preferring Zoid designs like Death Saurer (not to be confused with Deathsaurus). I love mech dinosaurs, but I think I will stick to Zoids for that.

There was a running change to Trypticon that apparently fixed the hips. The Takara Legends Trypticon is the exact same toy, (I think the box just has a sticker on it) but uses the fixed hips as it came out a bit later than in Hasbro's markets. Hopefully any Trypticon bought today will be from the fixed batch. There are also tutorials for addressing the hips if one wants to be absolutely sure they won't break.

What's at risk of breaking? Trypticon is very Zoid yes. The only Zoids I've ever seen was the one with Bit Cloud.

Honestly, I probably noticed it because i just watched an oldie, but I remember a couple years back when I watched too many of your videos in a row and I was bummed out. Your general displeasure with the toys of that era combined with the speed at which you speak made me perceive it as overwhelming negativity. Regardless i continued watching your content because you are genuine. It didn't feel like you were slamming a toy because you were having a bad day or regurgitating popular opinion for likes. You always have an interesting take. In any case, you're one of the last few reviewers that are objective, doesn't have their heads up their own asses, and are genuine. Well thank you for that, I feel like the content has improved since I switched to 2 videos a week because it both gives me more time to rescript stuff, though that wasn't in play here, and it means that I'm not spreading my material around too far. If I use all my funny ideas in 3 videos than I have 3 kind of funny videos, but if I use them all in 2 videos then I have 2 really funny videos. And sorry to hear I bummed you out before.

Let me assuage that a bit. It's fun, but it's not something you NEED. Also it takes up a TOOOOOOON of space. It's not just excessively tall, but it's DEEP front to back, so don't beat your self up too much. You'd probably appreciate it, but it's not something to look back on and go "DAMN IT!"

Yeah that name sounds about right. And I'm glad me actually playing with a toy on camera is fun. Skylynx and Skyfire are my two favorite on a character front. Of the Hasbro actual Titan Figures, Omega Supreme is still my Favorite. He's just a Really good set.

To be fair, at some point the modern retail prices will probably surpass whatever TR Trypticon is going for at this rate. Titans are already getting close to being $200. And it's clearly not just inflation when you look at other brands and toylines, it's also Hasbro getting very greedy (and not caring about quality control most times now *cough* Legacy wave 3 *cough*)
