This challenge is to test out your knife skills. It is a good way to practice during the off season and to work on fine motor skill and knife safety.

Thanks! I like this tag. It's a nice change of pace. All of these knives that we have are pretty much useless without a skill set!

Hey Ken! Good to see this type of work (or Self Challenge) again. It's been quite some time since I've seen a knowledgeable person attempt it. I'm sure there are very few people today, who understand the importance of these skills. Thanks. Stay Strong, my friend.

They are just good practice at controlling a knife. I have been busy at work for a couple months and have not been out doing things like I should be. As a result I am feeling a bit rusty! We'll fix that this summer.

There will be a few more videos. The whole stick needs to be filled with different kinds of notches that are useful in camping and also good for trap triggers.

This is part 1. It will probably end up 3 or 4 parts when done. It's an open tag you should jump in. I believe you may have a knife or two that are up to the task! 🤣😅🤣

Thanks! It is a fun tag. It is a change of pace, doing something rather than showing something.

Thanks for the sub! I too have been enjoying the tag and watching all of the video responses. I didn't think the tag was going to go far, but a bunch of people are getting involved.

There will be several more parts. I still have to make a list of all the notches that are typically done on trysticks!

I learned what is called try sticks from a man born in 1885. My Grandpa.

I suspect people have been carving notches in sticks for fun as long as there have been knives! Mors Kochanski just popularized it as a teaching tool.

@LastChanceKnives well, since he learned it from Jesse, his dad, born in 1860, and he learned it from his, etc, etc, etc, I guess so.
