Thank you for sharing this. I had friends who were always trying to get me into Gothard. But by God's grace, the Navy kept me too busy.

I have the first book which was outstanding and am looking forward to the update which arrives on Monday. Does anyone know if Anthony George at FB Atlanta is part of this? I was shocked when he came out against Jill Duggar Dillard calling her a “mocker and a scoffer” when her book came out. I couldn’t imagine why he would do that so I wrote him an extremely deferential and respectful letter asking him about it and got no response. My question is a smidge off topic I admit so if I don’t get an answer that’s OK.

I am not an expert on Gothard and his teachings having ignored him since attending an Institute in Basic Youth Conflicts conference in the early 1970's that I thought was interesting, but didn't change my life. However, in my opinion he, like many others, took some good, Biblical ideas and then extrapolated them so much that they become evil. I see others in the Church doing similar things in order to be seen as a type of prophet with new, special knowledge about God.

Thanks for the informative video. I'm sure you will help many see the errors of Gothard. However, it was a theological oversight on Gothard's part to say Jesus got back under their authority. While his parents should have known he would be in the temple, Jesus continued to submit to them. He does give us an example, submission is scriptural. There is much you can discuss about Gothard's teachings. Seems you are picking out a gnat on that one. Also, although some of his teachings may seem rather absurd, it is not profitable to snicker at them as if he were a fool. Wouldn't it be better to hope the best and see his motives as wanting to help others? Okay, God bless.
