i actually volunteer on this railway its a nice little heritage line :) And to answer your question paul about Doniford Hault it is a request stop it has no road leading to it but does have a foot path from the road down to it. I See this route is not 100% to detail parts are missing it seems.

Paul all heritage lines have max speed of 25mph this is because they are classed as a light railway and and the max speed of a light railway is 25 mph

Simon Bourbage Maybe it's because of slight language differences between the UK and the US, but light rail over here (Portland, Oregon, specifically) gets up to 55-60 mph (88-96 km/h).

The Class 47s used to run between Glasgow and Edinburgh during the 80s up to 90mph. The sound of the engine and horn is stirring a few memories. Love the seats in the carriage. Quite relaxing, but the hammering for speeding slightly is offputting if you care about it.

I went to Doniford for a holiday in 2008. Had a walk down to Watchet. There is a 1,000 year old harbour there. A lovely place to visit. I found my way to a pub, called The Bell. reputedly where Coleridge penned The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. There is also a statue of The Mariner at the harbour.Needless to say, I got totally trousered on Addlestone's Cloudy cider and couldn't walk the three miles or so back to the caravan park, so got a taxi. Six pints and my legs were rubber. They do run steam trains along that line :)

Basically just about all heritage railways run at max 25mph, and we'll just put it down to health and safety lol. There's only one heritage railway in Britain that has a double track the Great Central Railway, the rest are just lucky enough to have a single line after the tracks were being lifted in the 60s. Simple explanation and each railway will have their own story to tell :)

If you are a heritage railway as this line is, mostly using historical line and trains then there normally is a speed limit of around 25mph. These are mostly independent railways and dont have to adhere to the rules and regulations of the main network. These routes are of much simpler design and are mostly used for tourists. Also keeping lines fit to run at faster speeds is normally outwith the budgets of these lines

The grass at washford station isn't a middle error it is actually half grass! Also the limits because the track was built for heavy steam trains that were a lot more top heavy and had to go slower round corners.

On the subject of trees, I've built some routes myself (amateur, nothing professional) and 3D trees are lovely, but a right pain in the arse for computing power. I usually use 3D trees for stuff right by the line, and for anything more than about 150m, sometimes 200m away I use a 2D model. Works a treat, and stops my computer from catching fire. Another point on the cars. There are stationary models (like that horrible white van at Dunster) and moving models that are have a pre-drawn path. While you can get properly signalled level crossings, where the cars roll across when the train isn't there, and then stop when the train approaches, they're a huge pain to code, so most route builders simply use stationary models for queuing traffic at level crossings, as at least it looks right when the train (and, by extension, the player) is there.

Well it's quite simple if you don't want to over-speed.....It's like when you're driving a car you always check your mirrors, just constantly have a quick glance at you HUD. Always allows you to keep a tab on speed. Even when the AWS/TPWS alarm sets off you can see the alarm set off on your HUD. I love watching the scenery too, I do both (hard-core train driver and scenery runs).....so I like your videos equally....thought I'd just give you a tip.

Mechano and Scalectrix I've no idea what happened to it. Train stuff, mum reckons she has some bits somewhere, I brought some track and locos last year and have an on off thing with it, set it up sometimes, I got that class 47 in that livery for Christmas a year or two ago, looks really nice.

In response to the "doesn't this wear out the clutch?": Diesel trains don't actually have clutches. Less powerful units like commuter trains have hydraulic torque converters - like an automatic gearbox in a car - and larger locomotives like this one are diesel electric: the engine is linked directly to a generator, which sends electricity to motors on the wheels.

The reason why Doniford Halt has a 15mph limit is because it's a request stop and passengers for this station should ask the conductor on the train to arrange for the train to stop, to allow them to leave.

Thanks Squirrel another great video. I live at the other end of the line to Minehead and so have ridden on the line lot's! The modelling is quite accurate, however there are much more curves and less long straights than that. I have an old mod of this line for the original train sim which is actually more accurate, however the textures in TS2015 are of much better quality!

hi Paul the grass on the platform is not a texture error some railways put grass on the platforms to make them look nice but also sometimes if the station was abandoned and grass started naturally growing the they would not remove it because it could damage the platform.

"If your life was on a big VCR, ...... I'd like to......" Squirrel, you don't want that... Seriously. I have that "ability", (it seems I'm one of the few I've noticed, which I don't understand other people "can't") ..... to the point: éverything that pops my mind, I don't "remember", but I relive that as if it just happened. Smells, the weather, what music was played or not, who said what and why, what color socks I wore, etcetera. That goes back to when I was 4. Believe me, that is NOT a virtue. If I only just could "remember things" and that's it, I would almost trade my left leg for it. But.... what I truly do NOT understand, is when people do not remember anything of significance, no matter how hard they try. In my mind, thats's a very empty way of living, just in the "here and now", as if you're only fixed to where you're going, not realizing the importance of where you were, or why. personal "growth" depends on (your personal) history. I would litterally go crazy if I "were" like you just pointed out.
