I am a retired driver Squirrel who has worked over that route on HST's many times. I have to say it all looks pretty acurate. For your information, the parking brake on a HST set is pneumatically operated and does not give any reading on any of your gauges. You just get the ON/OFF indicator. However, a big fat red fault light on the desk should have grabbed your attention immediately. IRL you would have tripped every hot axle box detector in the Old Oak area and the signalling centre would have stopped you and told you to examine your train. The route to Oxford continues on to Banbury, Leamington Spa and Birmingham IRL. Plenty of possibilities there.

You are absolutely correct regarding sounding the horn in USA... two long, one short, one long. And we try to make sure the last 'toot' is just before the crossing. Also, if under a certain speed, you start and keep the bell going until after the crossing of the engine.

Mr Squirrel the original GWR line was built in the 1830s by the great engineer Brunel. The route follows the flattest route to Bristol. Swindon was the railway work shops of the GWR which employed 13,000 people each day. If you compare the track mapped by this scenario to the aerial photographs on the internet web site "Britain From Above" it shows that a greatly reduced layout. Swindon was massive.

The brakes work when they don’t have pressure. Basically, when they lose pressure, they engage. So a lot of pressure leaves them disengaged

+Squirrel At 9:55 it's a signal bridge (I guess that's the correct British term, translated from German). They carry signals, if there are many next to each other, little space between the tracks or positive for visibility. No adverts ;) Please do more videos on this, it seems to be one of the best quality (and, to me, most interesting) routes in TS. Probably with a Class 55 (if a scenario with it is available). ps: marker for myself: 20:00

Nice braking work :p Btw the brake gauges still showed pressure after releasing the parking brake because analogue air brakes are regulated by releasing pressure - the dial should go down as you apply braking (reaching zero on emergency)

In the case of running with the parking brake on, the system should have sensed this and shut power off around 4mh. This is obviously not programmed into this simulator. Likewise, a driver would probably have sensed that he was running slow and would have checked the desk out and found that the parking brake was still on. Even on vaccum braked trains a qualified driver would have given thought to this.

I agree with your comments regarding bundling the maps and required locomotives. I hate when companies nickel and dime you with DLC like cars and race tracks. If there is a way to get every option for a reasonable price I will usually buy it. I also agree when it comes to open world games and interacting with the environment. The first thing I thought when I saw your Eurotruck streams was 'can I get a regular car and just drive around?' It's also short-sighted of the developers; if the customers are asking for something, even if you don't get why yourself, you should at least make an effort to give it to them.

Hi Squirrel. I've had the same problem as you in getting to stations on time. One station, I was supposed to leave a minute before arriving. I noticed you could only get 94.1mph out of your HST125 , I've had 126mph out of mine! It takes some time to get there though. I may be trying to teach my Grandmother to suck eggs here, but you seemed confused about Wantage Up Main. All rail tracked are centred on London so if it says Up Main then they are heading for London, if is says down main then the track is heading away from London. You've Just explained your speed problem. Best Regards Morgi.
