If you think about it, the end of the F.U.B.U. episode and this episode are parallel and they contrast each other. At the end of the former, Earns mother and aunt tell him how important family is and how it’s important for Earn and Al to have each other’s back no matter what happens because family sticks together, keep in mind this scene was after Earn and Al learned of Devon’s suicide, where afterwards both of them exchange a few words on the couch and sit and borderline apathetic silence, because at the time they both didn’t understand much about how life works, so they didn’t have much to say. Now particularly in this scene Al openly expresses that he’s grateful for Earn and that it’s necessary for them to stick together because they know how life is for them as black men and how cold and serious things can get, they both have to compromise and reach out of their comfort zone in order to change and bring in a better life for themselves, because robbin’ season isn’t just a season, it’s everyday life, and they both have to either hustle or get hustled. This show is truly genius.

TheBlam57 The finale also implies that Al was aware of the ruthless nature of the world since he was a kid. He knew that to protect earn it meant the other kid would have to go down for it in a really bad way. After the suicide was announced the kid next to earn was still laughing showing just how cold people can be. Al wasn’t mortified that his actions indirectly led to a suicide he was just fine that Earn was alright. Earn progresses as a manager from season one up until the finale, but his biggest weakness is that he isn’t cutthroat enough to manage Al the way he needs to. Earn putting the gun on Clark shows Al that Earn finally gets it: the world is cold especially in the music business so Earn and Al have to do whatever it takes to look out for each other regardless of how it might affect other people. The point even seems emphasized when the next scene is of Tracy being excluded from the group and left behind. The last time we saw Tracy he had beaten the crap out of Earn. Maybe seeing Earn get his ass whooped was what made Al finally get rid of Tracy. It would fit the message of the finale.

Man, that monologue Alfred gives Earn almost gets me choked up. For large stretches of both seasons, you feel this tension between them. Earn's inferiority complex, his bad luck and yearning to step up. Alfred's sense of social injustice, his begrudged dedication to family... and the tension just rises and rises until you think there's no way back for them, then he hits him with the 'we family' card. Because on the one hand, it's a genuine, heartfelt moment between two cousins, but on the other, it will deepen the psychological issues Earn has been experiencing, the result of which I assume we will be seeing in season 3. Undoubtedly one of the greatest shows of our time.

TMAG MFPP it’s not Clark throwing his manager under the bus. It’s his manager taking the fall. In the entertainment business your manager is someone of an assistant/ lawyer in 1. They can choose to stop representing you at any time. Secondly, their job is to help you make money so that they get paid. So his manager taking the heat for the pistol won’t effect Clark in the media rather than if he didn’t take the heat.

@chakrazulu21066 жыл бұрын
Pershanta Gladney....Chekhov's gun is a literary rule that basically states that if you introduce something to a story it needs to contribute to the whole of the story. "In the first act if you have hung a pistol on the wall, then in the following one it should be fired."...In the first episode of Season 2 we see this big shiny golden pistol. Then we see it a few times throughout the season but it never really pushes the narrative. Here in the final episode they make good on the concept by having that same gun be the thing that almost derails everything for Earn. A seemingly innocuous object that we forgot about became a huge part of the story. Chekov's Gun.

Woahhh If you notice Clark was right behind earn, when the detectors were going I think he saw what earn did, if you watch it again when paper boi asks to talk to him, Clark’s body language and how he knew what the gun looked like Even though if tsa found that they are taking gun and guy to a room as fast as possible and no one would see what they found, Clark switched them ,and how he says yoohoo at the end, uncle willie’s gun that he said was going to be paramount for earn to have in this business just saved earn’s job, but they got more to worry about now , so pumped for season 3! I love when earn takes L’s because it makes the W so worth it

I'm really excited to see what Paper Boi's like in season 3. He learned a huge lesson here that he has to seriously up his own game too to keep up with Clark County. That dude is kill or be killed. That "Yoohoo" was as cold blooded as any Bond villain. Earn planting the gun on Clark (who probably did the same shit to his manager) proved to Al that to swim with sharks, Earn has to become a shark. He's adapting and Al has realized who he's surrounded with. Earn is adapting. Al isn't keeping up.
@JoeyVSupreme2 жыл бұрын
I really love this scene. In what’s his last chance, Ern thinks on his feet and delivers. He plants the gun to lock down Al as the headliner and proves he has what it takes under pressure, like when he slipped the mixtape to the new station. Al appreciates that and knows his cousin is what’s best for him, especially after struggling with that all season. Clark, on the other hand, shows he doesn’t care about anyone but himself. He let his manager take the charge for him, since the manager knows it’ll be a slap on the wrist for a white man. Whereas that’d end Clark’s career. He then gets on the plane and boards, completely uncaring about the potential consequences of his managers life. He’s probably a bit suspicious of Ern and al, but now they know he’ll do ANYTHING to stay on top.
@nicegyrl16 жыл бұрын
I loved the moment Al and Earn had together on the plane. They balance each other out. One has what the other lacks, vise versa. Earn had the opportunity to set up the manager, but decided to be unselfish in not stealing Al's choice of who he wanted as manager. It was bigger than Earn at the moment so he went for CC instead so Al could headline. It's not that Al was disappointed in Earn when CC gets on the plane (as some wish to believe.) If you notice, they both sigh together after Earn reassured Al he wasn't going after the manager. CC making the plane further explained Al's speech to Earn, that CC is also Black and has to survive, so he pulled the same move.

Kendra Ann I feel CC and Earn conceptually did the same thing but two very different connotation and intent by their actions. they both did whatever they had to do in their respective situations but Clark, once he quickly figured out at that moment what happened, had a more sinister and darker motive which I'm hoping we'll find out next season.

Earn didn’t contemplate putting the gun in Clark’s bag as a master plan. It was a last minute scramble that was interpreted by paper boi as a way to put their team in a better situation for taking the headline. Just as Earn is given credit and validation he learns that Luke actually took the fall. Something an extremely dedicated manager would do for their artist and most likely not an act Earn would do in that instance. This immediately shifts the positive mood from the compliment that was given to Earn for his strategy to a eerie feeling that things just got far worse. Not only does it make Earn look like a bad manager again but it also puts them all in danger with Clark due to his history of violence. Clark said everything he could in an airport setting where certain words can raise alarm to signify that he knows what happened. Him saying he wishes that the gun was his was a threat in a sense and also shows that even with his pretty boy facade he is very familiar with guns and and comfortable using one. Him playing it cool shows that he is in power and when he says “yoo hoo” it is almost as if he is saying checkmate.

I think that’s looking way too deep. Clark’s manager took the charge so Clark can tour. He’s a white man and knows it’ll probably be thrown out, whereas it’d ruin Clark’s career. Clark hasn’t been violent but doesn’t have a problem with people being violent for him. He probably doesn’t know that it was Ern, but might be suspicious. He obviously doesn’t care about his manager and is only looking out for himself.
