its part of the game.. fight all practice, then leave it on the field and your best friends after. last year on my team two kids ripped their helmets off and started fighting and my couches just let it go. but as soon as practice was over they gave each other a big hug and said "damn your tough! glad you've always got my back!" and the other said "always"

When you're out there with that level of intensity the best of friends can get chippy with one another, it's a part of the sport.

Basically, it's one guy trying to move the other out of the hole. It provides a good chance for the coaches to evaluate each player's technique, heart, and discipline in a highly competitive environment against equivalent competition on the team. It is a great drill because of that, the fact that it gets guys fired up and boost moral during tough/intense practice sessions in the off-season, and it helps guys get acclaimed to their pads early in the year.
@HaloCOD81612 жыл бұрын
I love doing this drill, you learn whether your strong or not.
@skinnybills13 жыл бұрын
@Herc2770 It shows what a player can do under pressure. It also is a way to have contact drills with a low chance of injury

Tyrann Mathieu looks so damn small, but quick, fearless, and takes what he wants when he wants it.

i remeber when we use to do these i didnt mind the hit i just couldnt stand the headbut because sometimes it would jam my neck. you can only get so low before you actually can't get balanced.
@TheEpitomeOfRandom13 жыл бұрын
@ELSP73 always 3 point, 4 point is only if your coach wants you to be inside on goal line to cut the o line so the line of scrimmage doesnt move

@Herc2770 It's what we call a "cut block" when a player goes for the knees. It's usually called when the play is going to the opposite side. A "chop block" is illegal. It's when a defensive lineman is already engaged with a offensive lineman and another offensive lineman goes for the knees of the defensive player. Look up "Glenn Dorsey Chop Block" for a good example. And tripping is against the rules!

@Herc2770 As far as I know it's if intentionally stick your foot out. It's really easy to get way with it if you act like you fell down. I've done it a few times!
@Rick.Astley.Enjoyer12 жыл бұрын
You only get nervous doing these if you go in thinking your gonna loose. Just like a game to in confident you will be just fine.

So this is the pride,strength, and avoid looking weak drill?
@Blaker201312 жыл бұрын
Really, I think it's just a competition drill that teaches you strong hands and quick driving feet. Every time we do it, it's more of an internal competition drill to see who wants it more.

I know that they are competing for a starting spot, but no matter what, no matter if the guy across from if is better, you don't retaliate and fight the guy, you just work harder and make him better for in game situations and maybe work into a starting spot yourself. That's how football works. I was a 2nd stringer on varsity sophomore year and junior year... then senior year I started every game.

@Herc2770 Besides when @skinnybills said, it's also to make sure the linemen are getting low enough. The lowest player will usually win unless one player dives, of course.
