Great job Tim. I see why you chose that motor and battery, clean and tidy. As this Virus spreads across the U.S., triking is still something I can do! Rainy weather has forced me to ride on my roller/trainer on many days. Be safe. Cheers!

Just fitted the same motor to my ice Adventure, its pretty simple really, the only problem i had was i have short legs so the crank arms were too long, the only ones that would suit were the Bafang 152 mm, i purchased a pair in Australia for £16 but the postage was £21 and then the customs and excise had to have there share which added another £11, i ordered a battery from Aliexpress on the 25th January and it only arrived on Thursday this week, due to Chinese new year, apparently they do not work during the celebrations which lasts from early January to end of February, great little motor though.

Tim, How far can you go with a single charge? I also assume this is limited to the 20 kph speed on the assist. Is this working well and can you feel the unit cut out at the proper speed? Do you have different levels of assist for steeper roads and paths? Good to see you can still get out and about with all the virus adjustments we are seeing world wide. I wonder how long this will be possible. Be well and ride safely, bf

G'day Tim. I live in QLD AUSTRALIA. Hear in aust, The regs require the motor to be 250 watts, must be pedal asisst much like a pedalac. Can you give me any adivce on the subject ?.. Gerard.
@marksadventures38894 жыл бұрын
Nice one. Do you change the motor according to terrain then? If so which is which? For instance what would I use living in the Dales?
@TimsTrikeTrips4 жыл бұрын
No, I only have the one motor Mark. I mentioned swapping it out for my EFNEO gearbox. The gearbox is very good on the less hilly rides and means I can leave the heavy batteries at home and not worry about charging them up every day. A 250w motor like the Tong Sheng or the Bafang is more than enough for most of our UK hills.

G'day Tim. I live in QLD AUSTRALIA. I have just got interestested in cycling because of the pandemic and i want to widen my activitys. I am now saving up for a recumbent trike for off road. getting the standerd one first as its a lot cheaper and do a convertion later. The kit looks very simple to install. all most plug and go. I gess the kit can be installed to a off road type trike in the same manner ?... I would be correct in asking that ?.. Thats all i have to ask you. hear from you soon. Gerard.

Tim, hi. Good video and very helpful. I have just finished fitting the kit and your video did help. I am going to need to extend the speed sensor cable as you describe. Will the system work without it? How many wires are inside so I know what I am up against. Many thanks. Andy
@TimsTrikeTrips4 жыл бұрын
Very much depends on the kit you bought Andrew. The kit with the throttle has 6 or eight wires and the one without has 5 I believe. The system wont work unless its plugged in but as I have found with the magnet moved away from the sensor the systsem will still work

Tim, I see that there are brake levers that cut off the motor when applied. You don’t think they are necessary? Thanks
@TimsTrikeTrips3 жыл бұрын
It isn't really necessary with a pedal assist. The motor cuts out when I stop pedalling. More important with a throttle (which I don't have).
@emiel1976ep4 жыл бұрын
This is very helpful for me. I am still looking for what I will get and now I know what I must do as I get such a motor. I can make it fit and I know that I must ad a part to mount it. But it's way easier than I expected. Did you need to extend surten cables?
@TimsTrikeTrips4 жыл бұрын
Glad it helps you. I only had to buy an extension for the speed sensor. The other two cables were more than long enough.
@emiel1976ep4 жыл бұрын
@@TimsTrikeTrips OK so they also sell extension cables. I didn't know that. I think that I start with one smaller battery and mount it on my seat. I can always sd one next to it and swap them. That gives me also more range. The bootle shape is nice. Easy yo mount. Do you have an USB port on the battery or on the control panel? I have seen some that have it and it's nice to kerp your phone charged. One more question. Has it an option to connect lights to it? I didn't see lights on your bike, but I need it because I drive mainly ad night and lights are than needed.
@emiel1976ep4 жыл бұрын
One more question. Did you need to ad brakes dit sensors? I see on some that they have that, but I don't know if I need it. I prefer not, because I have now in the front and rear with brakes on it so it doesn't move as I get on or off my bike
@TimsTrikeTrips4 жыл бұрын
@@emiel1976ep the battery has a USB port on the top. The controller has a USB port on the rear. You could attach lights via these usb ports if you wanted to. There is no need for brake sensors with the TSDZ2 as it is a torque sensing motor... If I'm not putting pressure on the pedals then the motor isn't working. So when you stop pedalling to put the brakes on the motor stops too. Hope that all helps.
@emiel1976ep4 жыл бұрын
@@TimsTrikeTrips thank you. That helps. The price is also low, so with the reviews I looked ad, it's a system that is now ad the top of my list.

Great instructional video. Enjoy your new ride! What was the “ all in cost” for,the entire system and actual.full installation time.any idea if this system is compatible with Catrike 559? Best wishes. Keep riding on!
@TimsTrikeTrips4 жыл бұрын
£589 for the kit and battery (inc shipping). The first time I installed the system it took over three hours. This time, including stripping off the efneo gearbox beforehand, it took me just under two hours. That includes installing the controller, battery and speed sensor too. I don't know about your the Catrike sorry but if it has a 68mm BB then you'll be fine with it.
@markfeldman65094 жыл бұрын
Tims Trike Trips thanks so much! That is a helluva price compared to the $2000 plus options being presented by so many manufacturers.even paying a bike mechanic to do the work represents quite a bargain.
