When i was growing up in South Africa i know this song was sung by miners from all over South Africa - this song reverberated throughout South Africa from a song depicting oppression to a song of victory 2:59 and celebration.

The correct spelling for "Tshotsholaza" is Shosholoza. Moving Fast, Moving Strong. The word Shosholoza is a combination of both Ndebele (of Zimbabwe) and Zulu (of South Africa) words meaning “to push forward, endeavor, or strive.” The sound of the word itself is symbolic of the steam engine trains that carried miners through the mountains

Hello I'm Ndebele and Tshotsholoza is also a correct spelling depending on whether you are Zulu or Ndebele. A great example is how in Ndebele we spell the great military and Zulu King Tshaka instead of Shaka as the Zulu do. But its the same person and almost the same spelling. You'll fin both these spellings in South Africa.

This was a recording for the radio, the priority wasn't the visual aspect, but the audio quality.

Being South African, and a speaker of isiZulu - there is no such word as Tshotsholaza - it is spelled as Sho'shaloza - please get it right. And your pronounciation could do with a bit - not bad, but you you need some help on this. BTW - I am not black.

Why does it matter that you are not black?
@KarelVorster6 жыл бұрын
Because to most people in the States, everyone in South Africa is black. I get it on every forum and every chat I go on. So if that offends you, get over it. I wasn't speaking to you.

Your comment and all the people that gave you thumbs up is indicative of immaturity and bitterness. Your post was tactless and rude. Number one, these are children -- not adults. They worked with the pronunciation and composition that was given to them. Number two, instead of giving credit to this choral director for exposing these non-South African children to isiZulu and a bit of history about the miners, you have to be critical in an unconstructive manner. Number three, you missed the obvious - the soloist and the choir have beautiful tone, pitch, and power.

Well every recording I hear its pronounced the right way like this one plus every video says it's Tshotsholza so......
