Red Alert 2: [YR] - Random Gameplay Tips #1

This video contains many random small game-play tips, tricks and general stuff. Some of those may be unknown so it's quite interesting to check them out. Many of those were discovered during the testing and comparison videos, others were discovered during the "Testing your Questions" series.

did u know that? if terror drone attacks your basic tanks, you can put them into tank bunker. they didnt take damage and, it looks like they're dancing xD

I think that can happen if tanks is about to enter the bunker. Then suddenly Terror Drone enters the tanks. I tried that on Apocalypse then it works

So what we've learned is that the apocalypse tank is more powerful than a nuke when dropped from the sky. FYI: The tank bunker also increases the range of the unit .

If I remember correctly, while any more than 1 Tesla trooper doesn’t add damage, they do increase the range still up until the third trooper

2 Tesla Troops can make Tesla Tower running without power but it deal normal damage while 3 Tesla Trooper can deal buffed damage and range to the enemies without power

Anyone know how the range of a Tesla Tower with base power and buffed with 2 Tesla Troops compares to the range of a Tesla Tower with no base power buffed with 3 Tesla Troopers?

The Basic rule for Tesla Coils is this. Neutral deals the base damage. 1 Tesla Trooper improves the offense. 2 Tesla Troopers can charge it if the power is down. 3 Tesla Troopers will charge it even if the power is off, and increase the damage.

Flak units doing more damage, then he closer to target. Elite Flak have bigger attack distanse, so that why he deal less damage - step him for same distanse and magic disappeared.

Another awesome video! You know what else would be great? Some kind of showcase of "civilian" units. Red Alert (and Tiberian Sun) are choke-full of neutral units like bus, ships, cars, forklifts, camera dollies ecc. Even a lot of neutral buildings have wonderful design, like that animated Billboard with talking fruits or Burger Kong \\[T]//

Tiberian sun has the one nod mission where you Jack a GDI bass and attack mutants who use all that. They even had a bus with a tank cannon rigged to it. Would love to see a vid about that.

An overall great review of tricks and tips there that you have discussed in your previous uploads. And you even introduce some new stuff unfamiliar to us yet. So you can prevent any more Chaos Drone self-destructive actions by pressing S (Stop)? I must remind myself to do this, then... whenever my tanks get under the control of that Chaos Drone. Tesla noob at the end, though 😆 Out of all the Pros, only the Elite Tesla Trooper has that great advantage and benefit from promotion.

The Engineer being able to defuse Ivan bombs I think was even explained in the Soviet level he was introduced... Although I found out from looking at the Engineer in TibEd and was like "What's this weapon they have?" and quickly drew to the conclusion that yeah, it disarmed Ivan bombs. 1:25 Did not know that one... I assumed all infantry died to the Chronosphere. Does this also apply to the Chrono Ivan and Commando? 2:55 What if you told a Tesla Trooper to force attack on the ground and put a Coil on top of it? 5:30 Huh, interesting. Did not know Apocalypse Tanks did damage on death. 7:20 So would a damaged tank deal less damage to a building on impact compared to an intact one or is it all based on max HP?

Tbh though, I still like RA1 Tesla Coil. Long range, short charge time, and insane damage. Yes, it uses a lot of power, but that’s what a Tesla Coil should look like, not those miniature form in RA2 or in RA3. RA3’s Tesla Coil takes FOREVER to recharge and attack.

Count Cobalt Allied AA actually does splash damage. The area is so small that it only works when units are on top of each other. Gatlings are actually single target tho

According to the rulesmd, its elite weapon deals less damage. But has burst of 2. However its damage is more than twice less than its basic weapon

Well, in this vid, the elite flak trooper positioned farther then the normal one. I think that's the reason it became weaker (less accurate)

2:58 you can damage your own tesla coil with a tesla trooper by making the trooper force attack empty ground then build a coil on the same tile. 4:35 units that can't prone have "fearless=yes" in rules.ini. being fearless makes you die faster so it's ok to be scared of things lol.

I'm working on my own mod for YR, and while working on a new weapon that's similar to the tesla trooper, remembered this video. I went to check, and it turns out that the reason why basic legionnaires can fire over walls but elites can't can be traced back to how the elite promotion gives units an entirely new weapon. At some point, the Westwood devs changed the stats for the base weapon to have the capacity to fire over walls (a change to the projectile)--but they forgot to make the same change to the elite version, so it is stuck not being able to. just something neat

Got 2 questions; what stucture can survive if a magnetron dropped an apocalypse tank on that said structure? Tank bunkers are capable of increasing a unit's dps, so what units can survive against another when normally they can't… for example a lasher can't go 1 to 1 with an apocalpyse unless its in a tank bunker. Set it up like this: 2 weaker tanks vs 2 stronger ones, one of the weaker tanks is in a tank bunker. Testing on these 4 units stop when the tank bunker, a stronger tank or a weaker tank gets destroyed.

About the tesla coil 1 tesla trooper will increase damage 2 trooper will increases damage and range. And you need 2 to keep it running if power is down and 4 to keep it running with maximum power and range when power is down

The thing ive noticed with flak units is that they do splash damage as actual flak would, I think 3 star flak trooper does more damage to groups of aerial units rather than a single unit

Tested, they have much better damage vs ground units when fully leveled, splash damage looks to scale too, but splash damage doesn’t really seem to scale against air units but it does seem to stay the same instead of getting worse. might be beneficial to test against UFOs

2:01 Small-a allied lol. 2:59 I think the devs gave Tesla Troopers such a short range because they wanted them to be mainly support units that can charge Tesla coils. After everyone rolls out their Battle Labs and pumps advanced units out, these guys don't have any use as direct attackers, so if they had better range, they'd still suck against tech units and become worse at charging coils because they'd get distracted more easily by enemies. 4:22 And some weapons can have a different prone damage modifier. I think it simulates accuracy. Conventional ballistic weapons can miss or be dodged, so infantry can make themselves smaller and avoid hits more easily by going prone. Energy weapons (Tesla, Prism, UFO/cosmonaut lasers) are highly accurate and hit instantly, so they aren't affected by stance. 6:38 What? Pretty sure they can be destroyed. Or are they only invulnerable when the gas cloud is active? 7:10 I thought it depended on the vehicle's weight (both Apocs and Prisms are equally heavy), but that's why dropping miners on buildings is a popular tactic, I guess. 8:04 IKR, this thing gets spammed a lot in small map games with crates. Especially Gatlings inside offer great AA, and Prisms allow excellent map control with just as much range as Magnetrons and Siege Choppers. Together they make an awesome defense. They consume no power, so even when you have to use a force shield they still keep working.
