As you said, I'm totally okay with you sharing my formula, I'm glad it has been of use to you and others :) One small additional note in case anyone is wondering: The "% Market Value" column displays a percentage that represents the relation between the price an item has been listed for and the "Market Value Price Source" setting that can be found under TSM -> Options -> Module Options -> Shopping. By default this is set to "DBMarket". This is why there were items displaying percentages way above 30% when Sheyrah was using "30% DBRegionMarketAvg" as her sniper setting. So, if you want to use my sniper formula which is based on different percentages of the custom price source "minprice", you might want to consider setting your "Market Value Price Source" to "minprice" aswell, to avoid confusion. This setting will in no way affect what items sniper picks up or anything, it merely changes what the percentage displayed in the "% Market Value" column is based on. Cheers

I've used TSM since its release in WotLK. Using it became habit, but I was always slightly reluctant to using new features, not really convinced how anything could enhance this addon even more. Today I gave sniper a try. Used the fancy pricing formula and the custom price source. Made nearly 50k from 'sniping testing' for merely 20 minutes. THANK YOU.

When you go into depth about how to add sniper to your groups, you can also do this in reverse so that you exclude the Vendor Transmog group from showing in sniper searches. Cheers :D

I must say, I LOVE this add-on and set up. I use it now religiously . All I do is leave my comp on while Im watching tv or playing console and glance at it every so often for great deals. I admit , I don't flip every little thing that could make like 1k , 2k profit. I go for big ticket items like 10k. But still made over 200k liquid in one week and another 100k tied up on AH. The only change I made was that in the shopping, market value. What market value is.. I changed that from avgmarketvalue to Minbuyout because my realm usually never gets up to the avg value because im high pop so its usually super lower. where low pop is usually super higher then avg..to much flux. Min buy out makes it so it shows you ..what its selling for on your server right then at the least amount. So if I see something that says 17% market value. I know ..thats 17% of the min buyout. Thats nearly 80% profit if I repost it just below the lowest min buyout. Bam profit! I know i might miss out on a few great deals where everything is like 9000k but one person put it as 5000k and now my min buyout thinks 5000k is what it goes for.. But hey, to me thats worth it since im not buying tons of stuff that I think will sell on my server for 20k but really only sells for 12k on my server and I end up losing money. Anyways. As you said TSM is per server, minbuyout works best for me on mine and I made tons of gold. So this totally isn't a scam, or trick, like some other gold making schemes .It works amazing.

I'm getting quite some snipes using the setup posted, however, after buying them, and posting them through TSM, it results there are 2 or 5 more items around the same price that came up in snipe, so I'm just undercutting them and it's appearing again on my sniper results (my own sale item) isn't there a way for sniper to tell if there are X amount of items with that low under cut before displaying them? Cause then it's not worth buying it, because you won't gain anything since there are many others for a lower amount.

There is no way to do that. A good tip is: If the good deal is a transmog/pet, look at the tool tip for the Auctions number. I do buy ASAP if it's less than 5 auctions, because even if there is some more at low price i can buy them all and raise the price. It will not work for RAW Materials, for those you just need to know your realm market, takes time. :)

you have to be able to craft the item for that to work. once you open your profession tab, tsm will read all the information for everything you can craft and then it will work. that is of course assuming you have the crafting information enabled on your tooltip options. to do this, type /tsm, go to options, tooltip options, crafting, check those boxes.

I've used TSM for a little while now with great success. Mainly due to your guides and videos. The only thing I seem to be hung up on is the "Market Value Price Source." I understand what it affects but I'm curious what is recommended for the best results. Specifically talking about the box on the top left while under the shopping / sniper setup area and assuming it's the same box for the inventory viewer market value box. DBMarket seems to not be accurate because someone could affect the market value of an item by posting super low or super high and forcing false readings. Is there a "safe" price source that kinda works well in most situations? Assuming common sense is also applied to the values it shows. I didn't know if something like AVG(dbmarker,dbregionmarketavg,dbglobalmarketavg) would be accurate or beneficial. And trust me, I've searched all over the internet and back again twice trying to find my answer on my own... But at this point I just gotta ask the experts... Thanks again.

Just trade your other account some gold if they the toons are on the same server. If they are on different servers just buy a battle pet woth 20-50k on your main account, learn it and pull it out of your pet cage on your new account and sell it, bam, 20-50k start up for sniping.

I keep getting auctions in my sniper that say they are a good deal yet there are a lot of others at that same buyout. Even if it says it below normal price it makes it so its not that good of a deal if there are 10 other auctions with that same buyout. Is there anyway to set it up where it will filter out the auctions that have multiple other buyouts at that same price? Having a hard time wording that properly hopefully that makes sense.

Curious how you get the tooltip to show whether an item is crafted or not. I have the same info for the most part except I am not seeing the 'group' bit under tradeskillmaster info. I have crafting but I do not get any of the crafting info either. Any ideas? A friend referred me to this video to get an overview of sniping, and it is a good video for it! This is a good question but there isn't an easy answer. All the price sources have valuable information but you can't fully make use of the information they provide unless you take the time to understand what they mean. For sniper you have very limited time to decide whether you are going to buy the item, usually lucky to get more than a second or two. In this case you need to be quick and you don't have enough time to look though all the tsm info on the item. Generally you want to start with looking at Market Value, and you can quickly test if Market Value is a reasonable value by then looking at Region Market Value AVG, then you decide if you want the item or not. Some people like to take on higher risks, others prefer lower risks, just do whatever you are comfortable with, trust your instincts, learn from your mistakes, the more you practice, the better you get. The more you understand a variety of markets, the quicker you can recognize deals.

If you set up your groups & shopping operations, it asks for a "maximum auction price (per item)" - mine is 40% dbmarket. How does this effect the Options / Shopping / "below custom price ('0 to disable) formula ^ you shared with me. Should i be putting "minprice" into my shopping operations too?

There is normal sniper that I covered in this video, and then there is another feature you can use to force specific items to show up on sniper anytime they exist anywhere on the AH below the maximum price you have assigned to that group. Some people use this extra feature to get there hands on mats they know they need but can never get enough of. This feature doesn't just look at the last page of the AH, but the entire AH. So if you want to use this feature, go to the group that has those items and on the shopping operation, check that box which says include in sniper.

Go to the auction house, click on the "Shopping" tab at the bottom, then click on the "Custom Filer / Other Searches", then click on "Start Sniper". When you see "Scanning Last Page..." on the bottom of the auction house, then sniper is running. That is all. As for BilisOnyxia, there is lots of information there, feel free to ask him about anything that you don't understand.

Of course there will be some situations where someone does actually post multiples of the same wrong price. Review the tooltip info, look at market value and region market value to try to figure it out.

Hi! I've setup my sniper exactly like yours, and scanned the AH. (The full scan, not the getall one). Anyways, it may just be the people on my server not posting good deals, but I've been sitting here for over an hour 15 mins waiting for something to pop up in sniper... and nothing does. Any idea why?

I think you missed some important information in the video, maybe skimmed the video? There is no scan the entire AH, full scan or get all scan as a part of the process of using sniper. Sniper constantly scans the last page of the AH and waits for someone to make a mistake, you determine what you want a mistake to be. Every item posted on the last page of the AH will be run through that long string mentioned in the video and if the item on the AH matches the criteria in that string, it will pop up in sniper. It is completely normal to run sniper for 15 min and not see a single thing. You could run sniper for 5 hours and not see anything. Try watching the video again.

Sheyrah, I have found in Sniper, you may get a fake "someone bought it out from under you". Verify by searching in the Browse tab. It may be there under the awesome deal you thought you missed.

Most of the items that my sniper is picking up are not good deals at all, like there will be 10+ items priced at around 450g and then when it gets undercut to 449g it will get picked up. Is that normal? It looks like it's because the region market value avg is usually much higher than my server's average.

Oh yeah, easy, just change the 50 to 25 or to 10, whatever you want, the number pretty much at the end of the string. Let me give you an example. check(minprice - 100000g, 90% minprice, check(minprice - 50000g, 80% minprice, check(minprice - 10000g, 60% minprice, check(minprice - 5000g, 50% minprice, check(minprice - 1000g, 30% minprice, check(minprice - 500g, 20% minprice, check(minprice - 10g, 10% minprice)))))))

100% market value is what an item is worth. you generally want to buy things below market value, so buy below 100%. I generally buy things at 50-70% market value, and sell it at 90-125% market value. The lower the percent the cheaper it is, the higher the percent, the more expensive it is. you want to buy at low market % and you want to sell at high market %

Market is the last 14 days on your specific server. Region is the average across all servers on your region, that would be all US servers if you are US, or all EU servers if you are EU. Global is the average of everything, EU and US.

Depends on the Item and your server. No one size fits all for anything with TSM. Understanding the difference between the different price sources, and its strengths and weaknesses will be important. I'm planning on making a video on this.

I'm getting some false positives, perhaps from the custom price source. The sniper showed Feblight at 21% market value but it was actually at the correct price. Any recommendations?

All you have to do is see which price source it got felblight from from your custom price, minprice, which looks something like this, max(min(DBHistorical, DBGlobalMarketAvg, DBGlobalHistorical, DBRegionMarketAvg, DBRegionHistorical), VendorSell) So whichever of those parameters had the lowest felblihgt price is what it used. So imagine dbglobalhistorical was the lowest for felblight and you didn't like it, you could take dbglobalhistorical out of the minprice if you find that parameter doesn't work so well for you on your server. If it was a one time deal, you can set a shopping operation for felblight and tell it to include in sniper searches and it will use your max price instead, otherwise, ignore it and move on with your day. But you will will do much better with TSM if you try to understand what its doing and how to fix things when its not doing what you want. It only does what you tell it to do.

How do your TSM_Crafting already know the values of items, or for the total crafting mats to make an item? I have TSM_Crafting but it doesn't have any of that info listed

you have to be able to craft the item for that to work. once you open your profession tab, tsm will read all the information for everything you can craft and then it will work. that is of course assuming you have the crafting information enabled on your tooltip options. to do this, type /tsm, go to options, tooltip options, crafting, check those boxes.

Thank you for the reply!! I double checked now that I read your comment, and you're right! However Blood of Sargeras still isn't showing up for me to even apply my own cash values to... Is there a way to add it to the list?

you need to have a recipe on one of your toons that uses blood of sargeras, once you do, it will show up.

I have recipes on at least 4 toons that use bloods, yet it still doesn't show up in my TSM_Crafting o_O I've even used the recipes and everything lately.. Perhaps I need to re-install it @_@

A quick question for you: Do I need to have your groups set up for sniper to work? Or can I just input your basic sniper settings and start searching for items?

Basic sniper settings as shown in the video is all you need. Step 1 and step 2 (min price and snipe string.)

I just keep changing and trying new things and see how I like the effect, try both out and see what you like best, there won't be a huge difference. Feel free to change it up anytime and try some new things. Doing stuff like that will help improve your understanding of TSM,

it was working fine at first but then i started getting too many items and some of them where even above the market value, i have below vendor unchecked
