Fun fact. Mahito is dubbed one of the four disaster curses where he represents humanity's fear of itself. Jogo (the one Sukuna packed up) represents the fear of fire Hanami (the one Gojo packed up) represent# the fear of the forest Dagon (the one Toji packed up) the fear of the ocean. Mahito is manipulative, sadistic and psyschotic. All in all he has the worst traits we can attribute to a human and that's why he works so well.

Jogo after facing Gojo lost faith in himself refusing to “swing for the fences” whereas Mahito despite nearly being killing by Gojo and Sukuna the same opponents, he learned from his fights becoming more excited choosing to continue “swinging for the fences”. After being repelled by Sukuna in his first confrontation with Yuji, Mahito learned not to touch Yuji because Sukuna would repel Mahito whenever he tried to manipulate Yuji’s soul destroying his Domain Expansion thus he was able to evolve entering a “zone” like state which allowed him to hit two Black Flashes better understanding Cursed Energy, and his own Curse Technique evolving as a Cursed Spirit becoming tougher. Jogo on the other hand was fearful, and doubted his own abilities. He hid from Toji, and when asked by Sukuna why he refused to enter a domain clash he claimed he wouldn’t because he’d lose.

My point was more focus on when Jogo said that Mahito is stronger than himself and the others because he’s the mirror of humanity’s fear of itself. Mahito has like humanity’s curiosity where he want to learn these new concepts and constantly adapting. The potential of the type of curse he is and everything you mentioned pushes him over Jogo especially if he is holding back. I think Mahito is stronger than full power Jogo and if not then he would’ve been eventually. We mostly agree. I was just focused on their potential due to the nature of their curses

His fights are a mixture of hype and underpaid moments. Objectively mofo is up there as a 1st grade sorcerer. But he NEVER gets to win against important characters in 1 vs 1s. Even here he needed Todo to the very last hit. And most importantly HE COULDN'T FINISH THE JOOOOB! FUUUU That takes SO MUCH from the "my role in this war" speech. He looked cold with no pay off! Great character development with poor actual pay off is not cool. And shounen characters need SOMETHING cool.
