It's unfortunate that you say such a thing without knowing all of the facts. I think, The Chief is making a baseless petty accusation against the President. The President could not take such action without the Board. The Board can also launch its own investigation. A complaint could have been filed by the department that oversees Department of Public Safety's budget. It also could have been a whistleblower from within the Department of Public Safety itself. Just because the Chief publicly accuses or assumes it was the University President doesn't mean that is the case.

Well, apparently, one of her officers or all do not like her and wanted her gone because how would the president or anyone else for that matter find out about something that she instructed her officers not to do? I believe she put herself in the position she is in and instead of telling her officers that, she should have taken it up directly with the school. That’s the issue with people like her, instead of resolving the issue, she makes her subordinates do it. Something like that should have been addressed higher up since she was aware of the issue. Imagine being those officers having to tell someone, no I can’t do that for you anymore. That’s just weird and uncomfortable. Now, she mad that they cooked up some way to get rid of her. What did she expect? Not saying it’s right to wrongfully terminate people but if we have to be honest workplace retaliation secretly happens all the time and it’s typically orchestrated by the people you have an issue with. I hope she wins the lawsuit if she in fact did not commit fraud and that she handles issues like these head on next time. If you can talk the talk then you should be able to walk the walk right?

What I do know for sure, having worked and retired from the State of Texas, is that when the State says, "No overtime", it is not to be granted. Put simply, The State of Texas does not play when it comes to OT. There is a STATE limit (i.e. a cap) on the amount of OT hours an employee can accrue. AND to exceed that SET LIMIT/CAP an employee or supervisor MUST have OT approval granted by UPPER management. Fact: This process used to drive me crazy. In the Chief's case, she has to go to her bosses to get authorization from them and the Budget office. EACH university department - including TSU Police - gets an ANNUAL appropriation including predicted OT compensation from the university's Fiscal Operating Budget. IF ANY department goes over the appropriation then the university's whole budget is thrown off, which is why departments must REQUEST additional funding allocations. TSU is on course to have an overall balanced budget. If Sistergirl Chief was not managing her budget properly by allowing O/T as if it were her own funds - with no UPPER LEVEL approval nor intervention - then it could be deemed mismanagement OR FRAUD by the university (and/or State). That is why there is an investigation. Further, I believe our university President has NOTHING to do with this allegation by the TSU Police Chief. Come on, seriously? The President has bigger fish to fry. This is total petty bull💩 with coincidental timing, in my opinion. Miss Chief.....get your budget money and hours straight, honey. 🧐😉😂 In my opinion, some of y'all need to watch the Board of Regents meetings that are held every month - and are posted online. It's truly not that easy for the President to take such an action against a ranking department head without the Board. That is what led to the last guy's (President Lane) unfortunate and turbilant firing-dismissal-resignation. Last, I don't know if this is the case, but if it was written into HER CONTRACT that she could use university police for special events and special assistance.....y'all gonna be shook.

I was the one that helped to bring Dr Lane and Wendell down. They fired me unjustly and Me King and so many staff and faculty. I met with the attorneys for the board and gave them the true dirt on our admissions numbers etc and all the dirt that was being done. The news didn’t want my story but the board wanted my testimony. I was there when Chief Mary first came and she is a stellar officer and a credit to Texas Southern. This is the problem with TSU and all HBCUs is the whole Divine 9 politics.
