Well done Pedro, great final shot. I`m trying for more than a week now, but we have mostly cloudy skies here in the Netherlands. Today was a clear day but it is already quite small...that comet is gone, sadly. But...i`ve heard we have a bonus comet this month, a new one: C/2024 S1 ATLAS. Cheers!

Thank you so much!!! Yes...unfortunately it was not easy to get this one! I did managed to get more photos 3 days ago but yes, he is starting to fade away... Let´s pray for the ATLAS/2024 to resist the sun, if he resists I believe we will have a fantastic opportunity! Let´s pray! :) ☄☄

I feel your pain. My efforts were thwarted by clouds until Wednesday of that week.

Yes...I was so sad! With such a Comet in the sky and not being able to see it or photograph him! Damn! :) Praying now for a round 2 with the ATLAS/2024! Let´s see if he survives the Sun and give us a great show after the 28th. And with no clouds in the sky!! :D

Hey Pedro, I have a question. How did you manage to get the stars in the background too? I imagine you were using a fast shutter speed to get the photo of the moving comet, right? But to get the stars in the background too would require you to use a long shutter speed especially in a dark environment. The only thing I can think of is that you predicted or somehow knew the place where the comet would appear and then clicked your photo? Is that right?

you don't need a fast shutter speed for the comet. It's so far away that it doesn't move a lot faster than the stars in the background.

Hello!!! Thank you for the question! Well, the comet is moving but the movement is not so fast. So you can make photos of 30s exposure, 10s, 5s...with no problem. The photos in the video they were made with 4 seconds exposure iso3200 at F2.8. So, you can make a long exposure withouth a blurry comet. But, of course, making a photo of 4 seconds with 130mm...200mm you will end up with some trails in the stars. That´s the trade off. To capture the comet, the bigger the exposure the best in terms of gathering light. But you will have some startrail. If you dont want the startrail you need to use a tracker or use faster shutterspeeds. But...if you do it you wont have so much detail in the comet. :) Hope my answer can be useful!! Thank you!! If you have any question please feel free to ask! ;)

@@stefellbt that´s it!! ;) The only thing you need to control is the startrail. ;) Thank you for your comment! ;)
