I don't think the song was "ahead of its time", but instead, perfectly _on time_ . I mean, there was a lot of experimental stuff like that in the early 00s, when these machines (and songs) were new. Of course, the song also has _lasting appeal_ , because these are still real bangers. But being "ahead of its time" would mean that more stuff like this came after, and THAT just didn't happen.

Hahaha this is so awesome, good job. Cool that Marvelous timing and Late/Early are on there; that's nifty.

Yeah, there are hacked versions of Extreme that unlock Marvelous timing in every game mode (instead of just challenge/nonstop) and adds the FAST / SLOW display as well. It's pretty neat that nearly 20 years after the game's release, it still has enough of a fanbase for people to make fixes and updates to it.

Man, DDR needs a resurgence. My introduction to it was my friend Cherie introducing me to the (at the time) UK #2 when we went skiing in Milton Keynes (it was a _weird_ week) xD We spent more time playing DDR in the arcade than we did on the slope, and I honestly miss this game. I do own one metal T-series pad, but they don't make them any more, so I kinda wanna get a pair that can be bonded so my friends and I can play the twin-pad songs at parties and things. There are so many amazing songs in this game (Tsugaru, Waka Laka, Butterfly, A Geisha's Dream, not to mention all the user-created games). I wonder if DDR could be mashed up with Beat Sabre? Would need to be an AR game, so stuff overlaid on the cameras, but I'm pretty sure it could be really successful.

I love how you put things in understandable terms for everyday people while still making it enjoyable to listen to as a rhythm gamer. Also uhhh...19 is kinda goaty.

I must have played this exact song so many times as a kid using the keyboard & Stepmania, but I remember it had these identical steps. I was playing along with you on my desk with my hand haha. Brought back great memories. Great job! That was really impressive man.

Tsugaru is one of the few songs fixed in newer DDR games starting with DDR X (currently as of September 2022 the latest game is DDR A3), here are some differences for those that don't know: 4:00: The 16th gallops here are now 12th note gallops to make more sense with the swing beat. Although the gallops at 4:38 are still 16ths since it's not on a swing beat. 4:20: This section got it's timing fixed in DDR X - present to properly quantize the notes to actual 12th notes, making Tsugaru much easier to PFC.

Wasn't the song that introduced me to DDR, but definitely one of my first all-time favorites when I brought the game home 😀 It was so unique-sounding and exciting to play. Eventually I'm gonna redeem myself on this classic with an AA (no hope of me ever PFCing anything, but AAs satisfy my inner DDR kid for sure 😅)

Tres irresistiblement~!!! Your dedication and love are inspiring! I feel honoured to seek this song with you. Tsugaru is no moderate feat, and your dissection was simply pure elegance. I feel gratitude- thank you for sharing this star achievement with us. 😊🎇💝🕉️💕✨✨#火🔥

Really awesome video dude! Nice to hear somebody talk highly of the music and how ahead of it's time it was. Also, I have never had a problem with hitting the arrows on this song on expert :/ I used to play the European version so maybe it is different ??
@rogerclarkonline4 жыл бұрын
The European version is indeed different. Timing on EuroMix 2 was much looser due to the 50fps frame rate.
