Great Video as always. I've actually met Stoffel on a school trip a couple years ago. Our class went to the rehab center where he was kept and the game keeper told us all the stories about him. It was quite the experience as stoffel is actually fairly tame.

Yessss my boi Rusty! Rusty escaped from the Smithsonian zoo twice, and went straight to a nearby street with a bunch of bars each time. Especially back then (~10 years ago) that particular nightlife area was among the most raucous in the city, with hammered people swarming the sidewalks each werkend... Rusty didn't just want freedom. Rusty wanted to rage.

At my local wildlife park they had a red panda who escaped and was on the run for three weeks and was found about a mile away which lead to him becoming a celebrity at the park which lead him to have another escape attempt a few months later. They had to put him down recently due to health issues

I remember when Rusty got out. On a Sunday night in June 2013, a heavy rain storm had battered down the tall bamboo plants growing in the enclosure and allowed the long stalks to fall against the wall. He clambered up and out over the electrical shock barriers. He got a few blocks south, where he was spotted the next day by a family who thought, "Oh, a racoon. Wait! That's not a racoon!" They posted pictures and soon got word to the Zoo where he was. Our Rusty was quickly netted and returned safely. We do have a sizable racoon population in the DC area but they are not commonly seen during the day.

Have you done a birds size ranking? Either weight or wingspan. Cetacean size ranking will be more cut and dry. I'd say IQ but after us it hard to be able to quantify Dolphins & Orca vs. the Great Ape crew.

Truth be told, if a Red Panda escaped and found its way to the right area, a Red Panda could survive in North and South America. We do have forests of both native and introduced bamboo species after all.

We've kept raccoons before. You have to be careful with timing, because females are mature at 1 year, males 2. The day they reach "maturity" is the day they become unruly and dangerous. They go from housecat to tiny bear overnight, but without a fear of humans
