☕️ About this recipe:
Tsukune meatballs always reminds us of our favourite yakitori restaurant in Japan. We’ll order these along with plate after plate of favourites like yakitori chicken, gyoza, and potato salad, so much yum. Just add a glass of beer or chuhai (flavoured shochu highballs) and great company to enjoy them with.
The name tsukune comes from the Japanese word tsukuneru which means to ‘knead by hands’.
They're are a popular treat for oshogatsu (Japanese New Years celebrations) and osechi ryori (traditional Japanese foods enjoyed on New Year’s Day).
In Japan, chicken tsukune is often made from a blend of chicken breast and thigh meat, and sometimes includes the chopped cartilage as well. Today we’re simplifying the recipe by using just chicken mince from the supermarket.
🥒 Ingredients:
500 g chicken mince / 1 lb
2 spring onion / green onion finely chopped
1 egg
2 tsp ginger
2 tbsp bread crumbs
1 tbsp vegetable oil for cooking
For the sauce:
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp cooking sake
2 tsp sugar
(or 3 tbsp teriyaki sauce)
Optional: 3 perilla/shiso leaves finely chopped

Japan has the biggest fans of chicken meatballs, which are Kotaro and Hana - small Asian claw otters that live in Japan. Hana is the biggest foodie in the world who loves food, she eats faster than Mat Stonie🤣

@@kinanaris7976 how good are they! I hope you enjoy making them as burgers. Let us know how it turns out! :D Yeah - it is similar to bakso, but without using ice and a food processor to get that texture that bakso meatballs have.
