I wanted to redo a cover I was really proud of when I first started out, but now feel is totally outdated.
This was also my first time mixing with my own instrumental, so if that’s sort of wonky, that’s why. I worked too hard on this all to throw it all away, though, haha. I really loved Osamu’s arrangement, and so I worked to finally get to playing the piano like I always have- hopefully I can upload some of my originals in the future, too! (cough cough fan song for a certain pianist cough) Overall, this has always been a very important song to me, and I needed that comfort so this is what wound up being my channel anniversary cover- I hope you understand.
Again, I wound up crying while recording this. I haven’t done that so noticeably since I recorded I’m Glad You’re Evil Too a while back. But this song hits very close to home with me right now. I’m not in love, but with an eating disorder I can really relate to the idea seeing yourself as so hideous, so ugly- no matter what- and believing that you’ll never be worthy of love. I think the person I need to tell me that’s all wrong, just like the boy in the song did, should be myself, though. I hope to get there someday- taking small steps. Something as simple as eating more than one meal a day seems pretty hard to me even now, but I’ll get there, if I stay passionate. Music is more important to me than anything else, even my looks, so when I focus on that, everything else seems to go away.
…Perhaps my thoughts blended a little bit with the original translation. I did try my best to honor ryo’s lyrics, though, haha…

This is hands down the most beautiful tale I've heard all year. It touches what I would want magic to be, if we had it. I can...actually really relate to this song. (Don't edge-shame me, please-) I was born in a very thin and fragile body and later on could have been considered as a skeleton. I also looked (and were) never fully healthy and am seen till this day as 'scary' by some people. I was later on in school bullied and shamed for my body for eight years. Many really acted like I was some kind of terrifying beast. It...really hurt me. That's why I later on never believed I deserved anything good and would be better off dead. One day there was actually a boy who kinda...stood up for me. But I didn't get much into contact with him sadly. I wish I did. Now I'm just trying to recover and build up some self esteem.
