As the name suggests, Tsunami island appeared in the year 2004 when tsunami waves hit the Indian ocean. It is located on the delta of Tarkarli river. Tourists can see the meeting point of Karli river with Indian ocean. Local citizens say that sand on the island is used for body massage and is good for bones.
The place is quite popular for its water sports activities. Tourists gather on the island in monsoon season as the water tides are high and water-sports fun is at its peak. It has variety of sport like Parasailing, motor rides, banana rides, etc. Also under-water sports like scuba diving are available where visitors can experience actual fishes touch. Visitors get proper assistance during these sports.
Dolphin point is very close to Tsunami island and visitors are taken by boats to the point. Though it completely depends on luck whether you will see dolphins or not. But many visitors mention dolphin point visit as the best memory of their trips.
Malvan marine sanctuary, Sindhudurg Fort and Rock garden; all these places are near Tsunami island on a distance of less than 3 km. Tourists can cover more than 1 spots in a day. Tsunami island is a perfect destination to spend some quality time with friends and family.
For foodies, the place is heaven. Visitors get fresh seafood such as fishes and crabs. Also some offers cooking services. As this island is in Konkan, you will get a variety of tasty Konkani dishes with fresh meat.
How to reach
Tourists will have to reach Malvan first. And then will have to go to Devbag which is on a distance of 8 km. The only way to reach on Tsunami island is by boat. It takes around 5 to 10 minutes to reach the island. One can take 2 wheeler ride as well as 4 wheeler ride to reach Devbag. The nearest railway station is at Kudal and Kankavli. The nearest airport is at Dabolim in Goa.
Mumbai to Malvan: 530.2 km
Pune to Malvan: 387.4 km.

This is a sandbar ,appeared some years ago during cyclone,result of high wind,water currents turbulence and shifting of sand.I lived walking distance from this place,almost 80 years ago,and many times crossed Karli river.Thank you for showing this place.

Chukunahi jau naka.. boat ekamekat aadakatat .. aamhi Marta Marta wachalo. Aamachi boat ekamekat aadakali. Lahan mulala dokyavar gheun aardha tas sunami iland var hoto.. pani chati paryant yet hoto.. aamchya boat madhe pani Shirle boat chalu hoina.. baki baryach boat hotya pan tyani sunami iland Varun wapas gheun janyachi madat Keli nahi..
