Impressed with this lens for my a6700! Texture and build feel premium, and the square hood looks classy. It’s sharp where it matters, especially stopped down. Autofocus is reliable, though sometimes it loses track in video mode. For the price, this performance is more than satisfying!

I think for the super budget friendly folks this is going to be a good option.

Yeah the price/performance is quite good, however, I personally would rather buy one, but a better lens. Sigma 30mm would be my guess, that would go a very looooong way

Hello, is it suitable for shooting car videos at night? Does the autofocus work well in videos? Thanks.

I understand why a full frame 35mm lens is not 35mm for APSC, but I REALLY don't understand why a 35mm lens made for an APSC is not 35mm. Make it make sense.
@TomsJurjaks
@TomsJurjaks 3 ай бұрын
In simple terms, they both ARE and always will be 35mm lenses. However it is the FOCAL LENGTH that changes due to size of the sensor. Full Frame sensor (imagine 1x) gives a 35mm focal length because you multiply 1 x 35mm. However, APSC camera sensors are so to say “zoomed in”, they are “cropped” or “smaller” and this so called “crop factor” is 1.58x for Sony cameras. So all you need to do is multiply 1.58 x 35mm and you get 55.3mm. So while 35mm lens still remains a 35mm lens, on an APSC camera it will have a focal length of close to 55mm. Does that make sense?

@@TomsJurjaks Thank you for taking the time to reply. What I was trying to say is that compensating for the crop factor makes sense when you use a full frame lens with an APSC sensor, but if you buy an "APSC lens" then the focal length advertised should be the actual focal length you get when using it with an APSC sensor. In other words, for an APSC lens you should only have to think about crop factor if you want to use it on a full frame sensor. If you need to compensate focal length in an APSC sensor even for an "APSC lens", then every lens is full frame and there are no APSC lenses. That's what doesn't make sense :P

@@MartinRomero'For APSC' lenses are just "cheaper" versions of full frame lenses. They have a smaller image projection circle meaning the image that the lens projects on the sensor plane is smaller. If you were to put an APSC lens on a Full frame camera the lens will only show the image roughly the size of the APSC camera, you would have a heavy vignette. But then you may ask "if they're making lenses for APSC then why not factor in the crop?" (FF - Full Frame, FOV- Field of view) First of all the image you get on a 35mm or 50mm lens on a FF camera isn't called a 35mm look or 50mm look, it's simply a combination of sensor size and focal length that produces that specific FOV. Since FF was standard for long time people have associated that a certain look/FOV with these lenses. 35mm/50mm lens isn't a look it is the physical spec of the lens. Secondly, all not all APSC sensors are the same size and have different crops. Sony is 1.5x, Canon is 1.6x and Fuji is 1.5x. So imagine making FF equivalent lens for all these brands, they'll have to be different to match the '50mm look'.

@@MartinRomerothe " actual focal lenght" is the same at any camera sensor size.... dofferent FOV on apsc does not change the optical characteristics of the lens. Thats why 35mm on apsc will never look same as 50mm on ff. Its only an equivalent of field of view and f-stop.

30mm Sigma is one of the best lenses. As far as I tested it, it did not have such horrible lens flares and non-working autofocus. Sigma was flawless.
