We're SLOWLY making progress in the states...some more states like MN will be legalizing it this summer. Too many old-thinkers who just see it as dangerous instead of life-saving, like it actually is
@NoFrictionZone15 күн бұрын
@pjdiver3 thankfully you are right. I'm in CA so totally spoiled. Plus if we couldn't split/filter here, what would be the point of having a bike with our traffic.
@someguyontheinternet716515 күн бұрын
It’s because US law is set by people voted into positions, and the general public that votes those people in act on emotion rather than fact. Unfortunately our species is hilariously childish and widely perceive it as nothing more than cutting in line. If they’re miserable stuck in traffic everyone around them should be too, rather than looking at the big picture of it reducing congestion and saving lives and preventing serious injury.
@lecobra41814 күн бұрын
Filtering/splitting is now authorized in France, the speed limit is 50kph (30mph) when the traffic is moving or 30kph (18mph) when stopped. That's dope. But, to be honest, everybody was already doing it for years, and cops couldn't care less about it. As you can see with those compilations, French riders does not appear very often and usually for sliding on the road, we have an average of 700 riders death per years with is really low compared to the USA who has an average of 6000 fatalities. We're 5 time less than you, population wise, but that still makes a surplus of 2500 fatalities (700*5 = 3500 not 6k) which means it's almost twice (40% really) as dangerous to ride in the USA than in France. I think your system should be revised deeply, the learning phase is rushed in the USA, it's overcomplicated here, but the USA as a road fatality problem. The "right of way" concept is an aberration that leads to a lot of road raging due to both riders' and drivers' entitlement and you are put too soon on powerful motorcycle without proper education on how to ride a powerful bike. Authorizing lane filtering without regulation wouldn't be a step in the right direction as people would die on their hill with the blurry "right of way" and most riders would filter at crazy high speed (now entitled to do so) with drivers not educated about checking their mirrors when changing lanes or using their blinkers...

@StrawDragon I got pulled over once recently because my insurance had a lapsed by one day. The officer let me call my insurance company to make payment and I rode off. I guess it depends by each state. I'm in Texas

@@brandonclement Maybe, in the 6 states I have lived in, it was never same day. Even California wasnt. So not sure why you were able too. Maybe its different for lapse 1 day vs no insurance and you start a policy. I never lapsed my insurance, so all my experience is starting new policies when I've moved.

Don’t understand why we always get harassed by the popo. I ride a motard, mainly in Sydney, and get pulled over heaps - for “compliance checks”. I ride to Philip Island racetrack quite often and we always, without fail, get pulled over by Victorian cops for the same. Pisses us off….. I’ve started getting surly with em now and refuse to answer questions…!!!

Note to TwoLanesNick: The cop knows you are lying. People lie to him all day long. He is smiling because he knows you are probably going to die soon in a collision. He doesn't care that much as long as he doesn't have to be the one to tell your parents or boyfriend.
