Apparently there are various attempts to continue making the rules and minis available, but buyer beware. Since last year there is an ongoing attempt to bring back Aarkalash and Confrontation, less sure about Cadwallon. I'd be interested in hearing more about this.

Nothing breeds success like success. And unfortunately success also leads to overconfidence. My initial assumption was the Walloons angle to be honest since it's a French company. French translated into English can get peculiar. When I was in Villefranche-sur-Mer during liberty/shore leave the only squid among my shipmates who spoke French was from Alabama. When we finally met up with a group of young women he hit it off with one in particular. What I thought was interesting is that instead of saying she was attracted to him or liked him, her expression was she felt they were "sympathetic" to each other.

Hmm, I suppose the French lady used the word "sympathetic" to mean they literally "had the same feeling" as each other. Makes sense, but an excellent example of language differences. (To use an English turn of phrase) "Well done" to him, then.

4:02 Ironically given your prior statement FFG had huge success with their X-Wing game, which did use pre-painted minis. It even knocked 40K off the top spot for minis games for about three years. I did enjoy their Cadwallon game.

I was/am a big fan of Confrontation/Aarklash and have run plenty of RPG sessions in that setting... but not with Cadwallon's rules, though I don't think they're bad. The setting always struck me as Warhammer's Old World with a big dose of old school Disney... it's charming, but also wacky, but also quite dark/sinister when you take a closer look. Cadwallon itself is not sooooo limiting when you consider it is the location in Aarklash with the highest concentration of interplanar (?) gates leading to other realms. There's a quarter of the city devoted to housing visitors from these places... not that any of those other realms ever got written up in detail. All the magic gems come from off world, since they do not form in Aarklash, so that's a reason to travel 'outside'.

I have a rescued core book. The rule are a mess. I still love Paul Bonner art. The rule are a mess (and I played Confrontation). Plastic prepaint was forced by cost reduction. Cadwallon and dog of war was the exoensive mistake.
