They were treated extremely badly in Sham Sui Po concentration camp by the second in command who is a Japanese born and grew up in British Columbia Canada by getting his utmost rage on these soldiers in revenge of all the discrimination he experienced growing up in Canada. It is a true and sad fact that Asian were badly treated in those days and before in British Columbia Canada with heavy head tax and with two anti-Asian riots in Vancouver Japantown and Chinatown in 1907.

I have been to this cemetary. Very well arranged with each tomstone clearly marked and extremely well maintained.
better than a history book in our education system, very detail, your hard work is appreciated, we are all expecting your next video about the start of this "Oriental pearl" even it has been destroyed by our HK people
@canman50602 жыл бұрын
The Pearl of the Orient was the Philippines to the end of WW2 and independence from the American. Postwar Hong Kong earned this title.

Japanese force is 10,000 plus strong and the colonial force only have about 1600. About 5000 Japanese soldiers died in this invasion and several hundred died from colonial force mainly young Canadian soldiers who never knew they were heading to death.
Suggest upload some more WW2 footage because this is the most viewed and most discussed in any youtube channel. Hong Kong 1967 riot is a close second.

Two books. One in English and the other in Chinese are worth reading. The English book titled 'Not a Slightest Chance' detailing almost every single event including the names of the persihed soldiers from Dec 8th to the moment of surrendering at the Peninsula Hotel on Christmas Day. The Chinese book with chinese Title 'The Hardship of Three Years and Eight Months' by Tse Wing Kwong with the most comprehensive 1995 edition published on the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Hong Kong which covers almost every aspect.

'Not a Slightest Chance' tells the true prelude of the fall of Hong Kong . Winston Churchill wanted all troops in Hong Kong back to England. Young wanted to do his best to defense (avoided to be attacked) Hong Kong.
@canman50602 жыл бұрын
@@danny99ho This is the reason why large number of Canadian soldiers were deployed in Hong Kong which is almost half the colonial force. A great number of Indian soldiers and a relatively lesser number though not small of local chinese volunteers.

Where did you get this information ? CY Leung was a graduate from Bristol Polytechnic in Estate Management.My ex co-worker mentioned his name to me when I was under him doing the QS (Quantity Surveying) work in the early 1980's.

CY Leung was some of the earliest pioneers who obtained the British Passport issued in the United Kingdom in the mid 1970's or may be even earlier.
SLD.
