Superb. If that was the final tune of the day, the players showed no signs of fatigue, 'weary' or not. Very much enjoyed the smiles from the group and obvious enjoyment from the audience, too. Thanks for posting this.

rhumbarber Look for the version by The Dutch Swing College Band with two dueling clarinets from the late 1950s/ early 1960$.
@rhumbarber5 жыл бұрын
@@uwesattler116 Found the version. Not to my taste because I was a Colyer and Barber fan in those far off days and two clarinets is one too many I think. Too frantic.

Stunning hot jazz, terrific video (thanks Randy) .. from Wikipedia - ""Weary Blues" is a 1915 tune by Artie Matthews. Despite the name, the form is a multi-strain ragtime rather than a conventional blues. (At the time it was published, many hot or raggy numbers were published with the word "Blues" in the title). It is often known by the alternative title "Shake It and Break It," especially when played by New Orleans jazz bands. The first jazz recording of the number was made by Yellow Nunez with the Louisiana Five in 1919. "

Gotta say more ... they are tight, hot and happy here, anything but 'weary'. Shaye spots a fellow coming and Erica calls out with a big smile; they are tickled pink by the subtle sensuous dance by the passing gentleman, Robin tips his hat to him ... No wonder there are 20,000 views in ten days ...........

It's a Clariphone/Saxonette, as Tim Harding pointed out earlier. Clive Evans ( the clarinet player here) was well known in the U.K for playing this instrument, it was more or less his trade mark. The Saxonette is a sorprano clarinet, that can be C, A or Bb
@Kanaka385 жыл бұрын
Forgot to add, Clive also plays a very nice Peter Eaton clarinet, sadly not in production at this moment in time.

@sonjaclark60215 жыл бұрын
I had never heard of a saxonette before you posted, Tim Harding. But I have since looked it up in wikipaedia, and I don't think this is a saxonette. Apparently some clarinets with raised bell ends were made years ago, including some by Buescher in 1913.
@axeleast86325 жыл бұрын
This instrument is arguably a clumpet which is a hybrid of a clarinet and an ear trumpet. It was invented in the late nineteenth century in London by a deaf Chinese musician.
