I love my Mr. Hector. I’m from the USA 🇺🇸 and I remember seeing one in the background of a behemoth making of album. Never heard of them before and this is about 11 years ago. This is before Laboga had a reverb store. These were next to impossible to find here and I would search local classifieds eBay, you name it. Then about 4 years ago I found 2 for sale at a guitar store about 3 hours from me. MAde the drive and bought 1 of the two they had for sale. Wish I could have bought both but could only afford 1. Louis Torres bought the other one. The guy that worked at the shop, his dad was friends with the late Adam Laboga and the amps were given to him but since he and his son aren’t brutal metal guys they had no use for them. About a year and a half ago I ordered a camouflage 2x12 and what a killer setup. Killer amps. Glad to see them getting more recognition. Proud owner of one here and it might just be the flavor you are looking for.

The problem I have with amp sims is the spatial inconsistency, and I am speaking only about the high gain metal ones...when mono center, most of the sims do an amazing job, but pan it left or right and for some reason they lose the punch and/or definition...double track it (L+R) you get back the punch but huge amounts of fizz appear, escpecially when listening on smaller speakers...eqing guitars leads to lack of fullness and makes guitars sound dull

I think it's probably just listening with eyes, but I think the real amp is a bit more dynamic. Maybe there is some truth to amp sims being "colder" in that the notes feel like they're a similar velocity, and dynamics are more macro than micro. The real amp in this scenario sounds like each note is a bit different, while amp sims in general kinda sound dynamically flat and only feel like they change in mostly loudness and only across large differences. Still prefer amp sims though. 1/500th the price, you can do it at anytime, anywhere and in post, plus no tubes to worry about and you can't annoy people that are around with it. Not to say there isn't some magic to real amps.

To have a successful plugin everything should be perfect.. even effects and cabs. If I am not wrong I think from what I heard the pedals (tubescreamer etc) need more work! Also I hope the dials (treble - bass - mid) work as they should. Lastly I dont like so much the gui. It isn't as practical as in neural dsp.
@spectre50222 жыл бұрын
Using the archetype nolly pedals and is night and day with laboga, but that's supposed to be a complete suite, sad because the ampsim sounds great, but as I said in another comment, having trouble with some pedals like reverb, I seems to eat the sound of the amp, and doesnt "expand" the sound. Same with the screamer pedal, doesn't sound good to me, but again, the amp is great.

@@AuroraDSP I love your approach and the respond. So I will give you my thoughs if they can hep you because we need companies to make better plugins. - So 1st of all check how nice and clean sound the delay and reverbs of Neural. I would like that too..stereo sounding delay (like ping pong) and artificial free. -2nd It would be awesome to know if there is oversampling internal or not. ( like izotope plugins) 3rd. The gui doesn't help that much - an amp - cab like gui would be clear and preferable .. BUT... I love these color themes that you have - reminds me the Cubase and I love it - bravo - 4rd - I hope the dials are responsive (bass-treble-mid etc) and not adding artificial flavor!! - Lastly not much companies have achieved or perfected the overdrives - boost (etc - pedals) We need that..
