Tubedrve vs. HG-2 (hardware), wav files in description

Was able to AB with a Black Box Analog HG-2 hardware device through Access Analog. Purposefully chose a bit more distorted sound so it can be heard better.

They both sound great!! HG-2 is a tiny bit snappier on the transients.. Even more so if you were to engage the 'air' function. Definitely going to purchase a Tubedrv when I start building my 500 series rig.

HG-2 definitely sounds more open and wider but the singular audio holds its own. It's easiest to hear on the high hat. Every time it goes to the HG-2, the high hat gets a little clearer, and goes out more to the left. Also the phantom middle feels like it opens up. But still, the Singular is a great little box for 500 series and isn't that far off from the HG-2. No reason to not add one to the setup especially since the price is right.

You should also show the track without any effect to judge what each brings to the table. Tubdrve sounded great in general but in comparison (on this material) it had a little bit too much saturation. The HG2 would be more suitable for mastering in this case.

Snare sounds way better on the Tubedrve. HG-2 makes the snare a little too flat/lifeless.

I just bought this exact unit and and Ive downloaded the cfiles from this video. Im trying to get mine to sound exactly like the tube drive files that I downloaded I can seem to get to to reduce the rms like how it is in the file despite mimicking the settings in this video exactly. What else could I try? Are these settings in the video the same as the setting that are in the files?

settings are exactly the same as in the file ! my suggestion is to play with the input level of the audio. that seems to be the only variable. pushing the module with more level will cause a slight reduction in rms.
