Hands down the best instruction (video or not) on the tubular bind off I've found after seeing more than 2 dozen and following several. Many of these other tutorials call it a tubular bind off but it is just the sewing part, not the tube. I was so confused, but your clear video made it actually very simple. I've just followed your technique on a sweater, and it looks very professional, and also bounces back perfectly after being stretched. I'm so pleased! Thank you so much!

If you want to work this BO for 2x2 ribbing, you must first convert the 2x2 ribbing to 1x1 ribbing. I have a video on 2x2 tubular cast on that shows how to convert 1x1 ribbing to 2x2 ribbing. You would just reverse that process. The video is here- kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2jbopKBratgbM0

Hi Suzanne, love all your tutorials. Just a quick question about using the tubular bind off for 2x2 ribbing... can you convert into 1x1 ribbing and start the double knitting in the same round? Or would you recommend one round to convert and then start the double knitting?

I have watched at least half a dozen videos on tubular bindoffs……nobody recommends the four rounds of double knitting to help strengthen the structure of the edge. It is a very necessary element to a long lasting cuff. Also your method of joining in the round creates a seamless look which none of the others including so-called experts use. Of course there’s more than one way to accomplish anything but yours is the best way. All your videos are clear, Educational and super helpful. I’m a fan.

Thank you very much for this lovely clear video. I had just done a bind off edge like this from waste yarn at the top of a fingerless mitt, then the waste yarn on the second got loose and tangled so I had to pick up the stitches on DPNs. I was wondering how to translate my regular method when I decided to check KZbin for a video. As I subscribe to your site this popped up straight away, I watched it through then started it from row again again so that I could follow along. Absolutely brilliant, 2nd mitt finished and matches the other. Your voice is so soothing too all my stress disappeared. Thank you again.

Suzanne, thank you so much for your very clearly demonstrated process! I was able to pick it up immediately, and that is not always the case with me. Well done!

Your video is well filmed with clear instructions. I followed it for my son's sweater and am very pleased with the results. Thank you. I know the question for 2x2 ribbing has been asked before so I hope you don't mind another clarification question. 1) Do I do the 4 rows of double knitting in the 2x2 pattern; then, change to 1x1 as I do the sewn bind off? 2) In one of your replies to this same question, you mention a future video for an alternate sewn bind off for 2x2 ribbing - is that available at this time? Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Jackie

You would change to 1x1 ribbing, then do the 4 passes of double knitting and then do the sewn bind off. And yes, there is another way to do the sewn bind off and it is on my to do list, but it does create a less tidy effect. Thank you and happy knitting.

Yep I can do this. I was never able to do a Kitchener stitched toe so for along time I knit toe up socks. But I really loved the heal flap and gusset and was just tired of being restricted to toe up. Wasn’t until I watched your tutorial on Kitchener stitch that i could do a nice toe!! Plus you taught me a cool way to weave in ends! I can do it now without your video, the mantra just starts going off in my head... knit off, Purl on, purl off, knit on... toes are smooth easy and effortless now. Next I learned the tubular cast on from you. I still need the video for that one but my cast ons are nice. I can totally do this one you are The Best Teacher. Thank you for showing us.
