Holy cow! That is one crazy cast on! I'd used it a couple of times in the past but not with the scrap yarn method, which I found so much easier. Your video is very well done and answered a number of questions I had that others did not. Thank you so much. I don't think I'd ever be able to do it without referring to your video so please never take it down! lol. I can't imagine the brain of the person who invented this!

AMAZING - PERFECT!! Huge thumbs up for this perfect cast-on method. So much easier than trying to do Italian CO on circulars (trying to figure out whether they're straight on the cable is nearly impossible). This one is just perfect. One thing that wasn't quite clear, but I figured it out was that a final YO can be used prior to joining to make an even-number of stitches. And just to emphasize that you should crochet provisional stitches onto as big a needle as you can so you'll have no problem moving the new stitches around the circulars. I am saving this method - which is actually quite simple and easy to memorize - for all my CO in the found for 1x1 ribbing in the future. Great Vid!

I agree about the final YO, I ripped it out and started over because I thought I counted wrong twice! Then I heard her mention the final YO!!

This is my favorite video tutorial for this cast on!! The other ones I've watched were never clear on which end to unzip it from, so the knot just confused me, but you saying to NOT pull from the KNOT end was a game changer lol. This has been my first successful tubular cast on, and I feel less nihilistic about using it in projects more.

I'm learning to knit again while I recover from a broken wrist. I am currently unable to hold the yarn in a slingshot position with my left hand, so that prohibits me from both the longtail and most tubular cast on methods. However, this I can do, as I can hold a knitting needle in my left hand and crochet stitches and knit with my right hand.. Thanks so much for sharing this technique!

I did it! The only mistake that I think I made is using a size larger needle to cast the stitches onto the big needle, which is my habit to combat tight cast-on edge. I should have used the needle size that i use to knit the ribbing. As a result, my the stitches in the first few rows flare a bit at the edge compared to the stitches above them.
@waywardblog Жыл бұрын
I am still fairly early on in my knitting journey, but this is the first time I've encountered a 1x1 ribbing that isn't simply k1p1. Are you slipping every other stitch because of the cast on? Or is it done this way for a particular pattern? I love the clean look of the CO edge, but just want to make sure I'm understanding everything okay!
@Ajalemes11 ай бұрын
I'm fairly new too so I may be wrong about this, but a project I'm currently working on uses slipped stitches in this fashion. you'll see she's alternating between which stitches are slipped with every initial row, so it ends up creating two separate layers of material. I guess this is why it's called tubular, given that it creates a tube around the first two rows
