Back during my first bout of college, I took an Appalachian studies class to get a gen Ed credit in. One of my assignments was to watch a movie, off a list of movies related to the class’s subject I guess, and this was one of em. I saw the title and thought “Oh, a horror movie? Sweet!” I laughed my ass off, and that was one of the easiest papers I’d ever written in my whole college experience. 😂

Both Alan and Tyler Labine (Dale) are in season 2 of 'Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency', which I think is on BBC America. It's a really underrated series, and while season 1 was a little better, I thought, I really liked s2 and they were both great in it. Of course, Alan's role of Wash in 'Firefly' is still one of the greats, in one of the greatest sci-fi series of all time.

I swear man, as dumb and uneducated as they are, Tucker and Dale are two the most sweetest, wholesome and loveable characters ever. Just two large-hearted, kind and isolated (not ignorant) hillbillies trying to enjoy themselves, until suddenly the insanity of the modern world encroaches and scares 'em to fuck and beyond. We should all strive to be like these too. No prejucdice, no hate. Just two happy fools that try to love their fellow man, despite what their natural instinct tells 'em.

Lost my grandma not long ago. She more than just about any one in my life made me feel special. Feel what you feel. Remember that your happiness brought her joy, so let the shame of letting go for a bit wash away. I wanted to offer a bit of comfort from a Christian perspective, but scripture says to be careful of causing offense. I’m conflicted. Bleh, when in doubt I guess. I believe, in accordance with biblical text and tradition that your Grams was “fearfully and wonderfully made” by a God who knew her, loves her, and is personally invested in her (Psalms 139:1:18) even now. I mean no disrespect to your belief system (whatever that may or may not be) when I say: I hope she is home with Him now.
