This is one of the absolute best parodies of the genre, and such a fun horror/comedy. Flipping the script so that the hillbillies are a couple of really nice guys just out for a vacation was so fun to watch. I'm not sure I felt comedy while watching An American Werewolf in London, but there is definitely some humor thrown in there (especially the banter with the friend), I only commented because I just rewatched it for the first time in a long time and was surprised at how messed up it was, so it made me laugh out loud when I saw you throw it in with those others... no shade meant, it just made me lol because that movie is lowkey pretty disturbing

I'm so glad you're finally watching this! While the movie is set in Appalachia, it was actually filmed in Canada. Alberta, I think, if memory serves. Tyler Labine, who plays Dale, is a Canadian Character actor. One of his earliest roles was playing opposite young Ryan Gosling on "Breaker High". "Give 'er" is kinda the rural Canadian version of "Get 'er done".

@@JounLord1 Yes exactly. Theyre so good at location matching in Canada that for the longest time I swore Rambo: First Blood was filmed in Washington state... Like I mean ive been in small towns that look EXACTLY like the one featured in the movie when driving over Stevens or Snoqualmie passes. I had a weird Mandela effect thing happen when I discovered later on that it was filmed in British Columbia. They found a 100% perfect Canadian stand in for Skykomish or Leavenworth or wherever the movie was supposed to actually take place. It has something to do with Canada offering better tax rates for film productions. A lot of stuff that needs on location shooting is done there. Its why Vancouver is now considered "Hollywood-North".

What if we do that, but from the perspective of the killer, but it turns out he's actually innocent? Like they all died due to some extremely unlikely, convoluted, and highly incriminating events." this whole movie rested on a pretty clear gimmick, and the fact that the main characters were hillbillies played into that gimmick. Putting them into other situations like with aliens would feel like such a transparent cash grab imo not that it couldn't be funny, but it would be real hard to not make it feel forced
@tarmaque
@tarmaque Жыл бұрын
@@blueygooey8899 I agree, but I can also see it working. I think this movie is perfect as-is and doesn't need a sequel, but I also see it as Tucker and Dale and Allison running across some hillbilly that thinks Aliens are abducting and replacing people. The twist could be he's right, but they're not replacing anyone but only pretending to be humans to get an education at American universities. Or something.

I'm the same exact way. I hate horror movies for that very reason. They're just dumb, poorly constructed gore porn. It sickens me. This however, was an inversion of that. It focused almost none of the run time on gratuitous gore (minus perhaps the woodchipper) and instead focused on the relationship between Tucker, Dale and Allison. It was a romantic, comedic, feelgood sendup of the horror genre. And for that reason it is one of the few horror movies I actually enjoy.

And as a person that grew up in the mountains of virginia...I appreciate this film. Dale and Tucker are literally remind me of myself and my best friend fixing up his first home he bought. @5:25 - The "cabin in the woods" trope that started in the 70's and 80's. The 'gas-station-guy' is from Texas Chainsaw massacre. The cabin is from a number of movies but probably most identified with Evil Dead.

I was searching for "Tucker and Dale vs Evil" reactions (it's a great movie to watch reactors do their thing to, so every few months I do that). The time said your video was out 9 MINUTES BEFORE. I know coincidences happen and it's not that far fetched given I search for it every once in a while... But DAMN, how in the WORLD does THAT happen. Sidenote: I just watched the movie "Serendipity," where a poster for the play "Six Degrees of Separation" appears in a scene. A few minutes earlier I had watched a video that came out today from the Internet Today channel... with a Six Degrees of Separation theme. I've had a doozy of a day.

Both Cabin in the Woods and Tucker& Dale, started filming around 2009, but Cabin got benched for a bit because of studio problems or something. But Cabin came out after Tucker&Dale

If you like Alan Tudyk, I would definitely recommend "Resident Alien", a series he is the main for! He's hilarious and awesome(and now he's pretty much in every Disney movie since "Frozen"!)

He also had a series called "con man", it's based on his experience in the con circuit. He plays an actor who was on a popular sci-fi series that was canceled too soon and now travels from convention to convention living off his popularity. It also features a lot of other celebrities who have been regulars on the convention scene. And a lot of the scenes are based on things he and his friends experienced at the cons. It's pretty funny.
