A friend back in the 80's tried to get a carry permit as his job was to deliver money to various Construction Sites around the New York City (NYC). This was after waiting a year to get a gun license just own one. The Carry Permit finally arrived two years after he applied for it. By this time he had left NYC, after working for his uncle for several years, and returned to Active Duty with the Air Force. Once NYC realized he didn't live there anymore they sent him a letter demanding that he return the gun he got under the license (and bought and paid for) or he would be prosecuted for illegal possession of a firearm without a license. The Base JAG told him to ignore the letter as NYC gun laws had no authority outside of the State. He still has the handgun.

I understand and agree with Tucker on everything except the dismissal of the police having a Martial Arts Training. Where does the confrontation between an officer and a suspect usually end up? The ground. Having training in Jiujitsu would help the officers control the suspect with a minimal application of force. Granted you would not be using this training against an armed suspect, but it could help with controlling an unarmed and resisting suspect. Just my thoughts. Also, if the only shape you are in is ROUND, get in the gym and cut down on the donuts.
