I agree with getting both. At 65, I basically do group tours and rent the boat. Way easier and very reasonable. I am purchasing a Tuktech as I want to do nature photography and I go on shallow rivers and streams. I want to compare the Trak and Pakayak for down the road. You gave me a great idea to purchase the Pakayak used. Hong Kong looks lovely. Keep up the good work!

I have no car so I cant use a normal Kayak. Inflatables are risky to mold and stink when not cleaned after each use, Foldables are nice to take with you, but I fear being far from shore and having a leak and it will be unfun to go with a Tucktec in winter so it is the Pakayak for me!
@Fishaholicboy2 жыл бұрын
Both are great choices but depends on the purpose. I don’t have much space for storage and that’s how I got into these. Really hope the video helped in deciding the Pakayak is for you! Btw, the Pakayak Facebook group is quite active but you gotta own a Pakayak before joining. Hope that helps!

Excellent and very comprehensive channel. Thanks to your multiple videos, I decided to purchase both TuckTec & Pakayak as well. I feel they are complimentary. Most importantly, they both break down into a manageable package and can be stored easily, which was a MUST for me as well. Now, I am looking at Greenland paddles :) Do you use the Greenland paddle for the TuckTec as well or did you go back to Euro style paddle ?
@Fishaholicboy Жыл бұрын
We are Tucktec and Pakayak buddies!! I completely agree with you that they complement each other. Definitely for different purposes. For the Tucktec, I find it easier with the euro blade because of the width of the Tucktec.. also, I sometimes scraped my hand on the edge which wasn’t the best. I use the GP religiously on the Pakayak! Is your next investment the Trak? 😉

A user posted on Facebook "I realized that the left side wall (between the two side folds) was more of an "S" shape than a straight line and it looked like the plastic buckled, at which point water poured in and I sank. SUGGESTION: Can you do a "If I were buying a pakayak new" video. Based on all your experience to date. What for a first-time buyer who wants to get the best accessories right-away.
@Fishaholicboy2 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea though I think it could be very subjective. I feel everyone likes different things when kayaking and it's a great process to discover what you like and need for kayaking. BUT I do recommend having knee/thigh pads if getting the Pakayak as it allows you to have more contact (control) of the kayak however I would probably buy some generic ones and cut it to shapre rather than through Pakayak. I also really like using the spray skirt but other's dont.. it's all personal preference. Hope it helps!

Thank you for the video comparison. I was concerned about the tucktec fishtailing back and forth when paddling hard since it has a flat bottom. And also how fast it will go. The other kayak looks like it would go faster and fishtail less. Can you quantify the performance? We have a twin seater hobie mirage rigid kayak (peddle drive) which has zero fishtail, very stable (never flip) and fairly fast. I contrast we have some cheap rigid 8.5 ft kayaks that are much less stable and super fishtaily and hence can't go fast.
@Fishaholicboy2 жыл бұрын
Hi David! Thanks for watching! The Tucktec actually has a rudder and fishtails less than the Pakayak. It also depends on the wind and current on that day. I usually manage it with my paddling but it can get tiresome sometimes. I won't be able to compare it to your twin seater hobie unfortunately. It terms of speed, I made another video on it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fn2noJt-pMaAqZY I'm not an expert paddler but it's just a comparison of the speed between these two kayaks with my paddling style. You can see the results at the end of the video. The main advantage of these are purely for storage and the packability. Both takes me about 3-5 minutes to assemble! Hope it helps!

Hi! I have fished on the Tucktec. There's a small fishing section in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2GTonWFg5iAa7s around the 9:00 mark. There's alot of space in the Tucktec for you to put your gear.. at both the front and the back. The Tucktec is wide so it's stable but again, it depends on where you are kayaking but it's very comfortable to fish with. @@Fishaholicboy yeah I dont have anywhere currently to store anything like that either, thats why i was looking for a more portable option until i move and get a truck. But for a lake i think the tucktec will do great, as long as people in boats don't decide to blast directly beside me.

Not sure why you would compare the Tucktec to a boat that costs 4 times the amount, the Tucktec is a $500 boat, the Pakayak is basically $2000, the same people are not shopping for these 2 kayaks.
@Fishaholicboy Жыл бұрын
Hi.. definitely a different price point to compare. I think alot of people are looking for portable kayaks so want to know the different types out there. Quite a few people I know invested in the Tucktec first to start and then went on to the Pakayak.
