From one dive nerd to another, I got into the watch game 2 yrs ago with my 1st Invicta pro diver. I just purchased my SKX009 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I can't believe how my preference for watches quickly changed from Invicta which I rarely wear to Seiko. @jameshoward97004 жыл бұрын
A good, fair comparison. While the Tudor has a nice finish, it is instructive that you're comparing it fitted with an aftermarket bracelet. That shouldn't be necessary on a $4k watch! The movement in the Tudor is a good one (Kenissi, assembled in house) but it's unproven and expensive to service compared to the previous ETA, or the Seiko. While Tudors do hold value well, it's the %age that counts and Seikos resell well. The Seiko is also a true dive watch, the Tudor more of a dive 'inspired' watch. I'd buy the Seiko and spend the change on a Longines.

Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 Initially I was excited about the Certina being Swiss made and includes a useful ratcheting diver's extension but was disappointed that the AD here at my place doesn't carry any of the models bearing the Nivachron hairspring which are quite new to the line. At this point, the only thing holding me from considering the SPBs is the accuracy. There's not much in the list but weighing on several factors/strengths each models possesses such as water resistance, luminosity, accuracy, antimagnetism, and even to the practicality of having on-the-fly adjustment, I'm still undecided 🤷♂️

I tried a few of my seiko divers’ bracelet upside-down before just like you. My reason was the problematic and mandatory diver extension does dig into the fore-side of my under-wrist. It was extremely uncomfortable to the point where I rather add more links on the 6 O’clock fore side and leave the bracelet claps dangling unevenly near the rear side(12 O’Clock) This would be my major complain of the Seiko bracelet. Personally I could careless about Tudor’s rivetted bracelet and would wear it as is, while I would definately consider Strapcode aftermarket bracelet for all Seiko divers with this poorly designed dive extension. Quite surpprise you are not mention about the Seiko bracelet issue at all in this video.

Seiko wins in the looks department. BB58 has arguably the better movement, and better fit and finish/ quality control. In terms of value for money, the Seiko can be found online for almost 1/3 the price of the Tudor. Is the Tudor three times as better as the Seiko? That's for prospective buyers to decide. With some aftermarket regulation by any decent watch technician the 6r35 movement can usually be brought to within a hair's breadth of the Tudor's performance (though unlikely to surpass or even equal it). In terms of many mid-tier Seikos notoriously inconsistent fit & finish/ QC issues, it's really the luck of the draw with each individual model.

Tudor Bb 58 is still miles better than this seiko diver. Tudor bb 58 is way more comfortable and form fitting and better finished as a whole. While the seiko might seem better value, it still has the misalignment issue in some batches, way thicker, and it doesn’t feel as comfortable in bracelet as Tudor, period. I tested both extensively. My wrist size is 6.5 inch. The BB case and lugs are far more comfortable on my skin. If you are into chunky divers, MM is better for you. This spb is a lesser version of the 62mas reissue. Good improvement, but still lacking. In terms of looks, this seiko might win some stares, Tudor bb design still is understated and a lasting beauty. I am not even into Rolex or Tudor, and yet I still got blown away when personally tried it on my wrist. Note that the Tudor I tried is the latest navy blue. I bet most of you didn’t even tried both BB and this SPB within a short period of time and commented about value for money goes to the seiko. This might be the case if your budget is kinda limited, but I HIGHLY suggest you all try the new BB BLUE, at the AD, after this SPB. When it comes to pricing above 1000 usd, to me, I don’t want to spend on something lacklustre. I rather pay more for watch that fits my needs almost.

I am convinced that the Seiko is a better watch and much better buy. The Tudor is very nice, but if not for it riding the coattails of Rolex it would not be be talked about so favorably. Just my opinion...
@stuartcole48454 жыл бұрын
In what way is Tudor riding on the coattails of Rolex? You won’t find a single mention of Rolex in their marketing and I would argue the average person off the street probably hasn’t heard of Tudor. My wife HAD heard of them because I am always talking about watches but had no idea they were associated with Rolex. When I bought her one a few weeks ago and I mentioned Tudor was a Rolex brand, this was a negative to her as she has negative connotations of Rolex, as she thinks that they are flashy and crass. Now you can argue that the Seiko is a better buy, that it is better value or that you think it looks better, but to actually argue it is a better watch outright just makes you look uninformed.
@Televisiontechnology4 жыл бұрын
I own both and the Tudor is a much higher quality watch - bezel better, movement much better as is the bracelet - its over twice the price, but you can tell the differences in quality - the Tudor is as good as the Rolex's for less money.
@Televisiontechnology4 жыл бұрын
@NB I bought an OP 36mm earlier this year. Nice dial, but in terms of overall - it's pretty basic. The Tudor is a different type of model, but does appear better detailed and better value. What is a closer comparison is my Omega aqua terra which is very similar in concept to the OP - dress watch, within 1 or so mm of the size. The Omega (bracelet aside) - I believe is the better-finished watch, detailing much better than the Rolex and it has a better movement, 15,000 Gauss antimagnetic. I guess the point I am trying to make overall - is that owning a number of good quality watches, including Rolex - I don't think they are justified in terms of cost vs finishing. I've still got on order a new Sub - but mainly because I know it holds its money, from an investment point of view. Once again the Omega Seamaster has far more detailing and a better movement, for less money. Rolex may have all the history in the world - but objectively they are overpriced for what's on offer - but we knew that already ;-) A lot of people have commented on my BB58 rather than the overly generic Sub - and finishing wise...to say not even close, is wishful thinking - I can see with my own eyes, as own these watches.
@Televisiontechnology4 жыл бұрын
@NB The Tudor or BB58 soecifically is better than the Oris in general. I have an Oris Aquis and a 65 Heritage bronze bezel diver, which is the closest to the Tudor BB58. You can see the Tudor had the edge, heftier watch, more solid and bracelet too. Also has the new in house movement. I looked at the planet ocean and never liked it, I also preferred the sub, however the seamaster for me is a better watch, though close. I do think the glidelock mechanisms on some of the Rolexs is great. But at the end of it all, its only a clasp.

Own both and enjoy them both a lot. If I could change one thing about the Seiko, the clasp comes to mind. Its massive and I my mind a bit overdone. Also, its virtually impossible to find suitable slim, shoulderless springbars that fits the Seiko

The real choice is between the Tudor or the Seiko + a cruise to the Bahamas :D

how the tudor does not have a ceramic bezel is just to put it in line with rolex pricing

I bought the SEIKO sbdc 107 the other day. I'm poor so I have 20 loans. But I don't regret it. This watch is a wonderful watch manufactured based on belief and conscience ☺️ I'm glad I was Japanese 🇯🇵

Imo the Seiko is priced right, but the Tudor should be about 1/2 it's retail price.

The Tudor's movement is COSC but not the Seiko. The Seiko is 21k bph, does anyone knows this Tudor is running at how many bph?

@@TimeAndCrown I like your video's buddy. Maybe that is because we have a bunch of pieces in our collection in common. That, plus you are a real enthusiast and that shines through in your video's.

Did you reverse the clasp on the Seiko? Or did it come like that?

SPB143 owner here. Looks like he flipped the whole bracelet around. My bracelet is oriented the opposite way as shown in this video.
