The fxd is truly something else, simple and practical, once you get accustomed to the fixed lugs you'll never trust regular lugs as much. I wish there were more watches with similar character, specially the fixed lugs
@TheRandomWatchDude17 күн бұрын
Totally with you on that. Fixed lugs on a velcro single pass strap. Super secure!
@ekekonoise17 күн бұрын
@ yes! But you know what? Zero pass is where's my heart at. Garmin strap, your watch on your skin. Can't be more comfortable than that. But yeah, paratrooper single pass are prettier... happy new year!

I wonder if there will ever be something like a Pelagos FXD in 39mm?
@TheRandomWatchDude18 күн бұрын
It's certainly not out of the realms of possibility. I mean they made the BB54 which was very brave of them

Happy new year to you ! If I was sitting on your kayak and had to pick one in my collection for kayaking, I would pick my Breitling SuperOcean. 42 mm, 1500m, reinforced sapphire, and comfy rubber strap with glidelock. Paid 3K 10 years ago. It's built like a tank, but I dont crave it like my vintage pieces. The alternative is the Seiko with sharkteeth bezel, but it's a bit heavy. I've never owned a Tudor, but for sure they're great quality.

Breitling are a really under appreciated brand. I had a Super ocean 40mm from early 2000s and it was top quality, easily on a par with Omega from the same era.

Hi Mark interesting video the Tudor I like wearing is the big metal black bay chronograph it's a brilliant watch for the money (especially if bought on the Used market). would love to see a big chunky deepsea Diver from Tudor. Tudor have been great for the last few years and have taken advantage of omega s mistakes I think that tags profile is going to increase with taking over F1 advertising from Rolex but I think that's going to be more racing style of watches.and think that tags are aiming at the younger market as Tudor are targeting 30 years and older. Thanks John.

Great points John. I didn't consider the target age groups and I agree that TAG is aiming for the younger audience, and F1 fanatics. I like that big steel chrono you mentioned. I think that could be a future classic in the range.

I don't own a Tudor but if i did it would be the Pelagos FXD. I think it's the truest and most original Tudor. I'm not really interested in the vintage Rolex inspired models like the black bays.

The FXD is truly special I think, and I can see Tudor bringing out more iterations in 2025
@CrossNZ18 күн бұрын
My opinions do differ from yours! As a smaller-wristed individual, I hope Tudor and the watch market as a whole continue to trend towards including more smaller and slimmer watches in their catalogues. Great video 😊

Thank you and I totally understand people will have alternative views. I think the BB58 and BB54 are great for smaller wrists btw, 39mm and 37mm

Mark I think you may be right with Tudor needing a Planet Ocean challenger... but I don't think thier big brother would allow it. That would put them into Rolex territory surely 🤔. I agree that the FXD has pushed the boundary but if thier best effort to keep innovative alive is partnering with Red Bull then I think they will struggle 🤷♂️
@TheRandomWatchDude16 күн бұрын
@dirtyBandit it would have to be something so out there wouldn't it. So NOT a Deepsea but a worthy contender for the Planet Ocean.

Hello Mark, nice to see this relaxing seascape! I believe the FXD is the only truly original Tudor in terms of design. All the other models live in the shadow of their bigger Rolex brothers or follow their design. I also had a Tudor, a Heritage Chrono Montecarlo, a very original piece, but in the end I sold it because it was too big to wear pleasently. In this price range I prefer Longines, especially the Zulu Time 39 mm. Have you ever tried it? Happy new year from Italy!
@TheRandomWatchDude17 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comments and HNY to you! I have not tried the Longines range on and really need to have a close look at them. I know from seeing lots of posts on the new models that they are very good, and got quite a following!
@EdmundPorter-ju8kd18 күн бұрын
I like Longines & Tudor I think their respective price strategies make sense to me. Longines is mostly less than Tudor while Omega (part of Swatch group) is more than Tudor. Tag seems to me to have a very limited catalogue & while I like some of their pieces I think 20% too much at least.
@TheRandomWatchDude18 күн бұрын
Yes you're right, the gaps between pricing even in the mid range is considerable. Omega is still the best of the mid tier brands but Tudor is better value IMO. Longines I'm seeing more interesting work from them but still nothing that quite excites me enough to pull the trigger. TAG is TAG, you know what you're gonna get

Hi Mark, love your posts and the introduction. The scenery is nice too. My dream watch is a rolex Smurf 116619 LB. Not going to happen to a 74yr old retired ex sport diver.😢. So the blue Tudor Pelagos is hopefully coming out in 39mm. Anyway Happy New Year Random Watch Dude. I look forward to your posts in 2025. Regards from Downunder.🦘🦘

Hello and thanks for the feedback. It's been a fun year albeit it hasn't always felt that way at the time! Your Smurf dream watch I was looking at on the Rolex website earlier. I feel a bit of gold is required in the collection but that's an expensive desire! HNY and I look forward to hearing from you when you get the Smurf!

@TheRandomWatchDude Thank you. Yes it is just a pipe dream for me. All the best.😊

Luckily for Tudor that Omega and Longines are owned by the Swatch group because the Swatch group has no idea what they’re doing with these brands. They can’t make a dive bezel that doesn’t feel like it’s going to fall off in your hand either 🤦🏻♂️ both brands are massively underperforming with too many models in their catalogue.

Looks silly makes a 7 inch wrist look like a 6 inch wrist 😅

Camera lens distortion tends to make most watches look bigger than they actually are in my experience. But if you don't like bigger watches, this isn't for you 😀
