Several years ago, I was enamored by the Big Crown Pointer Date lineup when I first discovered it. I've been waiting to purchase one and did so just this last week (stainless steel with a blue dial). It brings me an extra bit of joy waiting for my watch to arrive in the mail after having watched this. Seeing that Oris is an unpretentious company with an ethos centered around joy and connecting with people is hear warming. Nice job.

Oris is such a great brand. Still independent. Still innovating. Has their own "classics" like the pointer date, diver 65, and Aquis. Great entry level luxury around the 1-2k price point. I have a 39mm Aquis with the sellita and green dial and it has been an excellent watch for the last 3 years. BTW Teddy is getting close to one million subscribers. Content like this is what will earn more.

As an owner of multiple Oris watches this comment section makes me very happy! I really love the brand not only for their sympathetic image and independence but also for the awesome value for money and unique designs. Their watches are not a knock off of any other famous models. For me the quality and finishing is on a level comparable to many Omega's but for way less. Especially as Omega is really going up with the prices nowadays. And yes, I own multiple watches of both brands so I can really compare. Thanks so much for the great journey to Hölstein, Teddy! Best regards from Germany

My friend, thanks for sharing your thoughts regarding Oris. I concur with your sentiments, because I received my vintage Oris today, and I'm quite shocked at how outstanding the build quality is, it has quite substantial weight to it too which I like. It's hard to find a decent vintage piece from Oris, so I consider myself very fortunate. I will not sell it, because I've learnt my lesson from selling my beloved gruen years ago, to which I still regret, because that watch really did bring me joy.

This is an impressive video. The independence and innovation is one reason why I bought a Propilot X while in Lucerne in June. After three months, the watch stopped working. I went to a local AD and it was sent for repair at the authorized repair center in the USA, The Watchmaker in Stoneham MA. After receiving an initial email saying the watch was received and approved for warranty, nothing has been updated on the repair. It has been almost 3 months. With the cost of this watch, this is unacceptable.

I have landed on the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date. I will be saving up for it, but this video helped me settle on my choice. I will never get to visit the manufacture, so it was great to see people working on the watches, and hear company leader talk about people who spend their careers at that company, for generations. And still have fun. I would love more on that archive. Could be an entire documentary. Thank you, Teddy!

My first mechanical watch was an old Gruen precision. I regreted selling it, because it was a gorgeous watch, had that gold sweeping hand with the curved tip. The patina was elegant. I couldn't find anything remotely like the gruen, so I purchased a vintage Omega. It was a nice watch, but realized after close examination that it had-had a redial, the indices were of other origin. It was also very loud. This really vexed me.. but it was my fault for not doing my research. I sold the Omega, and not long after, I happened to come across an old vintage piece online, it had shared similarities to my old gruen, it happened to be an Oris manual wind 17 jewels, gold plated.. all genuine. I received it today and after inspecting it, wearing it, I can see why Oris is so highly respected. Absolutely gorgeous time pieces.

I bought my first fine watch in 2011, an Oris BC4 small seconds. Since then, I've added an Aquis (Clipperton), and a Big Crown ProPilot Big Day Date. I just love the brand. I think they give high quality at a fair price. There are so many others I would love to own, but I can't ever part with the ones I have! I think Rolf said it well...."we are serious about watchmaking, but we don't take ourselves too seriously". That pretty much says what the brand is all about. Love these watchmaker tours! Would love to see you hang with some small makers that you respect.

I bougth Oris Aquis as my first premium watch (yes, it is in premium price range for me) in authorized dealer in the middle of September. I was happy owner of the watch for two weeks. There was an issue with the date indicator and date change, I wrote to Oris, they recommend sending it to authorized service. I did that and since that time it is already two times that I had to send it back as the issue still persist. Most probably, I will have to send it back one more time as the authorized service cant handle with the problem. Maybe they are "going their own way"? Still, if you ask me if I would buy it again? The answer is siple, yes, it's very, very beautiful watch :)

Wow. I'm so glad I watched this video. My favorite watch in my collection is the Cherry Red, but over the past couple of years I had started doubting if Oris was actually worth the money. Their non-regulated SW 200 movements, mineral crystal casebacks and lack of on-the-fly adjustability just isn't up to snuff with today's watch market. This video emphasizes the things Oris doesn't tell you. First, they're a small company. Second, they do lote of quality control despite being so small. And the amount of human involvement in every step of the process is very impressive. I expected something like Tudor's new factory where every step is fully automated. Oris has some improvements to make, but they're not as far behind as I thiught. Thanks Teddy for a great video!

I have the cal 403 pointer date and it's a modern watch in a case that can be worn by almost anyone. I also have the older pointer date with the coin edge bezel ox blood dial. On paper these may look similar but on the wrist they are very different and have very different personalities. I also like the Aquis range a lot and in my experience these are the most comfortable integrated watches for me either on the bracelet or the rubber strap in the case of the New York Harbor version. Hello Teddy, I regularly follow your highly professional articles about new products and watch companies. ORIS is indeed a hidden champion, a diamond in the rough in the watch industry. Even if they have been producing the finest watches for over 100 years. They still have huge growth potential ahead of them. Rolf Studer, you made a fantastic company presentation, congratulations.

Big fan of Oris, faultless, well nearly, had a tiny screw come out of the movement and lock the rotor in place, no problem, jeweler shipped back to Oris and they repaired & trturned, serviced with no cost at all to me.. it was about 2 months out of guarantee. Great to hear direct from Rolf Studer about the company and his passion is easily seen. My next watch will be an Oris. 👍👌✌🤘🖖🤙🍻
