Excellent research! These are the most in-depth podcasts about her life that I’ve ever heard.

When you were pursued by the king you didn't have much choice but to submit. That being said, she was extremely naive and had little understanding of the real consequences of her actions. She was used as a pawn by her older Male relatives. She had no real education and no chance of one being brought up as she was. Poor girl.

Can confirm, "Young & Damned & Fair" by Gareth Russell is AMAZING! Catherine wasn't just a walking stereotype of a pawn, victim or tart; she was far more complex & interesting, & made many of her own decisions. Some were impulsive & reckless, but I'd say that makes her a pretty normal teenager. Teens also tend to think they're bulletproof- or perhaps axe-proof, in this case. In short, not much of her behaviour surprises me- I was an impulsive, naive, boy-mad disaster of a teenager, & might've been equally unwise in her position.

I just found this podcast and I LOVE it. Great work! Is there an episode on Sir Francis Bryan aka The Vicar Of Hell by any chance? I’d love to know if the wild stories about him were true.

I'll never forget the first time I read the King of France on hearing the news of what Henry's Queen had done *She hath done wondrous naughty! ~ Francis I*

She was foolish! If I'd been married to Henry VIII I sure as hell wouldn't do anything to irk him.

Why would you want to marry a man who had his wife executed?

Although what Katheryn did was bad all this people claiming things in order to reveal the truth were also executed showing they weren't smart enough to stay quiet even though the positions they held at that time were the highest they have ever been in their lives and however they still want to ruffle those feathers

Sad that she had the young life that she did and led to many of her foolish and immature decisions.. she had little to no parental guidance and she knew what she was doing was wrong before she got married to the king but did it anyway. Katherine kept it secret and thus knew it was wrong. Anne Boleyn pushed against the King when he was pursuing her and I don't know why and was the only one to tell the king " NO" and got by with it. Other women married him except the one from Mulan, but she wasn't a subject of his in England. Guessing after Anne boleyn's does nobody told the king " No" when it came to marriage even though they may have wanted to say " No!". Doubtful that Catherine Howard wanted to say no at all and sounds like she was mature enough to know she what she was doing was wrong but didn't use good judgement. She fell back into an old pattern and it was pretty much inevitable. Catherine Howard married a man who was old enough to be her father to grandfather and with his shape and the conditioning of his leg & smell, I'm certain she married him for money and prestige. Just another one of Henry the eighth's sad stories during his time of tyranny.
