Thank you Fr. Alar - when I came upon this verse I was a bit confused but my Faith held me to my belief that our Mother Mary was indeed thee Eternal Virgin and nothing could deter me from this. Therefore once again thank you for re-affirming my belief's. I was very sceptical and confused when I came back to the church as I began searching for religious topic's it seemed that I became more confused and angry in fact when I 1st clicked on this site I left a not so nice comment ( which I regret now). then one day I heard a talk from Fr. Alar - only bc it was a topic that quelled my inner curiosity - anyway he made so much sense that iv'e been an avid and devout follower of this Catholic web site ever since and I wish to apologize to anyone I may have offended by this comment especially God but on the flip side Iv'e grown so much ,spiritually, and I attribute all that to this site and Fr, Alar. and his Saturday morning talk's,infact the whole Marian family is - to me - heaven sent.

Fr. Chris, it makes sense that Catholics shouldn't attend any kind of wedding dealing with a same sex marriage. What I don't understand is if a non practicing Catholic marries someone of the opposite sex that isn't any religion whatsoever and the wedding is not done in a Catholic Church, then is that another type of marriage that practicing Catholics are not supposed to attend? I had to ask this because my brother is a non-practicing Catholic who married a lady that wasn't brought up in any religion and I did attend that wedding. Practicing Catholics shouldn't get frustrated when hearing about how they shouldn't attend a same sex marriage because all as they have to do is take the time to actually read the entire Catechism of the Catholic Church and become familiar with what is being taught. We would not attend that because our attendance shows our celebration of a life of sin. We want what is truly best for the person not what's best for their feelings. I believe that as a mature Christian , our participation in gay marriages sets a false model of behavior to the young innocent and naive ones in the community which is contrary to God's plan for the human family . I don't think you are judgmental Fr. CHRIS , and Christians should be prepared for opposition within the family . Your comment made me want to prepare some answers in advance for future encounter of those who challenge the marriage plan of God in their lives . Sooner or later Christians will be faced with it . Christians must heed Proverbs 27:11 , " Be wise , my son , and bring joy to my heart , so that I can make a reply to him that is taunting me ." Thank you once again, Fr. Before the thirteen hundreds both the clergy and laity were offered the cup. From the thirteen hundreds until Vatican 2 the laity was denied the cup. Some Catholic churches still deny the laity the cup, while others permit it. Jesus, said to eat the bread and drink the wine separately. Also some priests add a couple of drops of water to the wine, while others add 10 to 20 percent water to it. Only giving the "Host " to the laity, while allowing the priest to drink the cup is a violation of what Jesus commanded. In the Old Testament those priests who were on duty in the temple were forbidden to drink wine during the sacrifices.

Yes that is a very difficult situation but if he is a baptized Catholic and does not marry in the Church the marriage is lacking canonical form and would therefore not be sacramental. In those cases unfortunately the person is living in the state of adultery. I know this is very difficult but Jesus said it is not easy to be his disciple. Therefore if we do attend we are then celebrating their life that is beginning in sin. We pray for you and your whole family, God bless you all

Thank you and God bless you but that is the teaching of the church. A baptized Catholic needs to have married in a church with canonical form or otherwise it is not a sacramental marriage and they are starting a life of adultery. We would not attend a service that celebrates that future life of adultery starting that day. This is simply Church teaching and not just my opinion. This "Mass" violates what Jesus said to do at the "Last Supper" . Father Alar only offered the "Host" to the laity. Jesus offered both the "body & blood " to His disciples.
